In the heart of Manhattan’s prestigious Upper East Side, bagel shops and delis are a staple of the daily routine for thousands of New Yorkers. Among these establishments is Gourmet Bagel, a local fixture that caters to the fast-paced morning crowds and the lunch-hour rush of the 10065 neighborhood. For those navigating the streets of New York, finding a convenient spot for a quick bite is essential, and this shop provides a traditional deli environment where residents and commuters alike stop for their morning caffeine and carbohydrate fix.
Gourmet Bagel operates within a neighborhood known for its high standards and classic New York architecture. As a business serving the Upper East Side community, it positions itself as a practical stop for those heading to work or taking a stroll through the local residential blocks. The shop offers a quintessential New York deli experience, featuring a variety of baked goods, pre-packaged fruits, and beverage options designed for the grab-and-go lifestyle that defines life in the city.
Location and Accessibility
Gourmet Bagel is strategically located at 874 Lexington Ave, New York, NY 10065, USA. This prime location on Lexington Avenue puts it squarely in one of the most frequented corridors of the Upper East Side. The shop is situated between 65th and 66th Streets, making it incredibly accessible for those living in the surrounding high-rise apartments or for professionals working in the nearby medical and educational institutions.
For those utilizing the New York City subway system, the shop is exceptionally convenient. It is located just a short walk from the 68th St-Hunter College station, served by the 6 line, and is also within walking distance of the 63rd St-Lexington Ave station, which serves the F and Q lines. This high level of connectivity makes it an easy pit stop for commuters transferring between lines or those making their way toward Midtown. Being on a major avenue, it is also easily reachable by several local bus routes that run north and south through Manhattan, ensuring that accessibility is never an issue for local patrons.

What is Worth Choosing
When considering what to order at Gourmet Bagel, it is important to align your expectations with the typical Upper East Side deli experience. The quintessential choice for many visitors is the bagel with cream cheese. While some locals note that pricing in this area reflects the premium real estate—with a total for a bagel, fruit, and juice sometimes reaching around $19—the convenience of the location remains a significant draw for those in a hurry.
For those looking for a quick snack, the sliced mango cups are a popular choice in the refrigerated section, though as with any fresh produce in a high-volume deli, it is always a good idea to give your selection a quick visual check before heading to the register. If you are looking for a pastry to accompany your morning drink, the chocolate croissant is a standard alternative to the traditional bagel.
While the shop has faced some feedback regarding its pricing structure—such as a small chamomile tea being priced at $4.25—many patrons continue to visit for the speed of service and the reliability of finding a classic New York bagel on their way to the 6 train. For those who prioritize a traditional Manhattan "deli style" interaction and a location that requires zero detour from a Lexington Avenue commute, Gourmet Bagel provides the basic essentials of a New York breakfast. When ordering, being clear and direct with the cashier can help ensure your requests, such as added cheese or specific bagel types, are handled efficiently during the busy morning rush.

I went to gourmet bagel this morning before work. The bagels with cream cheese are on the expensive side but it’s also the Upper east side. I bought mango slices for $7 and when it was time to enjoy my fruit i realized there was a hair in my food. I doubt i’ll be able to get my money back, i spent $19 in total for a bagel, mango slices and an apple juice🙁.

Incredibly overpriced. $4.25 for a small plain chamomile tea. Got myself a chocolate croissant and medium hot tea for $5.25 elsewhere. Get more bang for your buck for the same quality/ brands. Edit regarding the sellers response: Unfortunately it seems like being overpriced is a common issue throughout your reviews. Additionally, the common topic of the bagels tasting bad on your reviews is unfortunately true, considering that you primarily sell bagels. The tea experience is just one of the few unpleasant experiences I've had here. Ive had a bagel and coffee from here about a year ago and it was just awful. The coffee was definitely worse than the bagel, but I threw both away. The claim for consistent quality unfortunately just isn't true. The lack of empathy and transparency is also unappreciated. Lastly, I had $3 in cash (before being told what the tea price was). The cashier was happier throwing the tea in the garbage than to sell an already made tea for $3 shows the lack of empathy within this company. Again, this is all choice, but you guys would rather lose $4.25 than be short $1.25! Thank YOU, and per your request, I hope to see changes with management and quality before considering eating here again. Additional edit: After doing some more research a few common issues are listed as the following: Bland Bagels, Unpleasant experience with Cashier, Quality not up to par (bone found in lox), missing requested ingredients such as cheese but still charging full price and best of all: Hair found in someones fruit cup. The irony here is that your biggest point in your response was regarding quality, which evidently is not being offered. If you want to go to a deli, this may not be the business you'd want to prioritize supporting.

I came here with a group of 7. The service was fast and friendly and everything was very fresh. We all got what we ordered and thoroughly enjoyed it. I got a delicious cheeseburger for $11.27 which I thought was quite reasonably considering the size of the burger and location of the shop. Would recommend. There’s some seating and the atmosphere is welcoming. Great selection on the menu too.

If you’re looking for a fantastic breakfast spot, Gourmet Bagel is the place to go. I stopped in for a Western omelette and a coffee, and both exceeded expectations. The omelette was cooked perfectly—fluffy, flavorful, and packed with fresh ingredients. It came with a generous serving of toast and potatoes, making for a hearty and satisfying meal. The coffee was hot and fresh, exactly what you need to start the day. The restaurant offers seating, which is a big plus if you prefer to sit and enjoy your meal rather than grab and go. The service was quick and friendly, and the atmosphere was welcoming. Whether you’re craving a great bagel, a classic breakfast, or just a solid cup of coffee, Gourmet Bagel delivers. Highly recommended!
