What is worth choosing
When you step into Pick A Bagel, the sheer variety of options might be overwhelming, but several standouts are highly recommended by regular patrons. One of the absolute highlights of the menu is the Nova Lox Deluxe. New Yorkers are notoriously picky about their smoked salmon, and Pick A Bagel delivers a version that is consistently praised for its quality and quantity. The shop is known for its "no skimping" policy, meaning your bagel will be loaded with fresh, silky lox, onions, capers, and tomatoes, providing a decadent and satisfying meal that represents the gold standard of NYC breakfasts.
If you are looking for something from the cold sandwich menu, the ham and cheese bagel sandwich is a surprisingly delightful choice. Even in its simplicity, the combination of fresh ham, American cheese, crisp lettuce, ripe tomatoes, and onions on a freshly baked bagel exceeds the expectations of a standard deli sandwich. It is the perfect choice for someone who needs a quick, reliable lunch that is easy to eat on the go. Many visitors have noted that even when they only have a few minutes to spare—such as during a 15-minute tour break—the staff at Pick A Bagel can deliver a high-quality, flavorful sandwich that makes every second count.
For those who prefer the classics, a simple toasted bagel with one of their specialty cream cheeses is always worth choosing. The freshness of the dough ensures that even without heavy toppings, the natural flavor and texture of the bagel shine through. Whether you opt for a savory everything bagel or a sweet cinnamon raisin variety, the pairing with their thick, rich cream cheese is a testament to why Pick A Bagel remains a top choice in a city full of competition. No matter what you select, you are guaranteed a meal that captures the true spirit of New York's culinary landscape.
In conclusion, Pick A Bagel at 251 Vesey St offers more than just a quick meal; it provides a slice of authentic New York life. With its commitment to quality ingredients, friendly service, and a location that is second to none, it is a must-visit for anyone in the Lower Manhattan area. Whether you are craving a traditional lox bagel or a simple ham and cheese, this shop delivers on the promise of a great NYC bagel experience every single time.

During a group tour of New York City, we had a short lunch break and only had 15 minutes to finish. My friend and I were exploring the area for something to eat, and we ended up at Pick A Bagel. There were a variety of sandwiches available, but to make the most of our time, we ordered the bagel sandwich with ham from the cold sandwich menu. It was a simple bagel sandwich with ham, onions, tomatoes, lettuce, and American cheese, but it was surprisingly tasty, exceeding our expectations. The staff were friendly, and the sandwich was delicious. Next time I’m in New York, I‘ll definitely be back for another sandwich.

On a short trip to New York, and eating at various establishments whilst being a tourist. This was our 3rd bagel shop visit, and so far this was the most disappointing. I'm not sure if it's because of the location, or simply the cost, but the quality and amount of ingredients didn't match the prices, which are high even by New York standards. The bagels were OK to eat, but my salmon (and a lot of tomato) bagel wasn't worth over $20!

Great selection of freshly made bagels. We had the sesame and everything options. They’re very generous with the cream cheese. If you like your bagels a little more on the toasty side, you will need to ask in advance. They also fresh squeezed OJ.

Disrespect. Today was the third time coming to this bagel store where the employees were late and didn’t have the shop open on time. It’s clear that this is a pattern. They seem to not care about the customers time. Never apology for the delay. Never say anything. Today I got there at 7:15 (stated opening is 7am). There was a line of people waiting outside and the lights were out. The store was black. Employees were walking around slowly inside with no sense for urgency. Eventually around 7:30, one of the employees slowly walks to the door and unlocks the lock. Doesn’t say “come on in.” Doesn’t say anything to the 20 people online. No eye contact. Today was unique in that many people were staying in the hotel and were running the NYC marathon and needed to be at a bus by 8am at the ferry. They were stressed. Last night was day light savings time and the employees got an extra hour of sleep. No reason why everyone should be waiting outside. If you can’t open at 7am because the employees can’t get there in time, they should change the hours to be 7:30am. This way people wouldn’t walk over there at 7. We all have our own lives with family and kids and weekends are busy. It’s disrespectful that they can say a word and apologize. These aren’t new employees. It’s the same employees that were there other times it wasn’t open. Just plain disrespect of customers’ time. Unfriendly and rude employees. Positives… bagels are pretty good and the store is clean and bright.
