POOM: Bakers Collective Introduce
Introduction / Overview
In the heart of Lower Manhattan’s most striking architectural marvel, POOM: Bakers Collective stands as a testament to the vibrant and diverse baking community of New York City. Operating as a curated marketplace for artisanal treats, this bakery is not your standard cookie-cutter establishment. Instead, it functions as a "collective," bringing together the finest creations from various local bakers under one roof. This innovative concept allows visitors to experience a wide spectrum of culinary styles, cultural influences, and baking techniques in a single, beautifully designed space. For New Yorkers who take their pastries seriously, POOM offers a rotating selection of goods that represent the very best the five boroughs have to offer.
Stepping into POOM: Bakers Collective, customers are immediately struck by an atmosphere that is both chic and incredibly inviting. The shop has quickly earned a reputation for its "cute" aesthetic and warm, personal service. Many visitors have noted that the owner provides a level of hospitality that makes the high-traffic environment of the Financial District feel like a tight-knit neighborhood spot. Whether you are a morning commuter looking for a world-class croissant or a weekend explorer searching for unique flavors like pandan or vegan-friendly tofu cookies, this bakery delivers an authentic experience rooted in the passion of local craftsmanship. The quality is palpable, with every item tasting as though it was pulled from the oven just moments before your arrival.
Location and Accessibility
POOM: Bakers Collective is located in one of the most iconic transit hubs in the world: Inside The Oculus Center at 185 Greenwich St, New York, NY 10007. For locals and commuters, this location is the definition of convenience. The Oculus serves as the center of the World Trade Center Transportation Hub, making the bakery accessible via a staggering number of transit options. Patrons can easily reach the shop through the PATH train from New Jersey or via the New York City Subway, with direct indoor connections to the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, A, C, E, J, R, and W lines.
Because it is situated within the climate-controlled environment of The Oculus, POOM is a perfect year-round destination regardless of the New York weather. It is positioned perfectly for those working in the nearby One World Trade Center or the various financial firms in the area. The accessibility doesn't stop at transit; the shop is also fully ADA-compliant, following the standards of the modern mall facility. For those navigating the busy corridors of Lower Manhattan, the bakery serves as a refreshing pitstop where the architecture of Santiago Calatrava meets the cozy, artisanal vibe of a local bakeshop. It is an essential stop for anyone passing through the Westfield World Trade Center looking for a high-quality alternative to standard retail chains.

What is worth choosing
Given the diverse nature of the Bakers Collective, there is always something new and exciting to discover. However, several items have already reached legendary status among the local regulars. If you are a purist, the classic croissant is an absolute must-try. Customers have noted that it is perhaps the most authentic "stateside" croissant available, perfectly capturing the delicate, airy layers and rich butter flavor that is often hard to find outside of France. It is the ideal benchmark for the quality found throughout the shop.
For those looking for something a bit more adventurous, the pandan muffins are a standout. Pandan, often referred to as the "vanilla of the East," provides a fragrant, floral, and slightly nutty profile that makes for a unique breakfast or afternoon snack. The almond croissant is another heavy hitter, offering a more decadent, nut-filled alternative to the plain variety. Additionally, dietary restrictions do not mean a sacrifice in flavor here; the vegan tofu cookies are highly recommended even for non-vegans, praised for their perfect texture and satisfying taste. Pair any of these with a rich moka pot espresso or a hot tea for the quintessential POOM experience. Because the selection can change based on the featured bakers, it is always worth asking the staff what came in fresh that morning—they are always happy to guide you toward the day’s best hidden gem.

The cutest shop with the tastiest pastries from many local bakers and yummy moka pot espresso & tea. I loved the almond croissant, vegan option tofu cookies, and pandan muffins! Everything tasted freshly made! Definitely will be going back to try out the other goodies! Also, the owner is the sweetest! 🥰

i loved this place the moment i stepped in. the atmosphere and ambience is so inviting. i love the concept of a bakers collective and love being able to have a diverse collection of baked goods in one space. the croissant here is AMAZING. i don’t think i’ve had a croissant the way a croissant should taste stateside. must try the croissant here!!!

I loved every bite of Cafe Heeya’s Vegan Tofu Brownie😋! It has the perfect mix of fudgy and moist textures, and its rich chocolatey flavor rivals traditional brownies. This guilt-free treat proves that vegan desserts can be just as satisfying and texturally amazing. Treat yourself to a sweet escape! I can’t wait to try more desserts from Cafe Heeya🤤❤️.

Poom is an absolute gem! Not only do they serve up the most delicious treats that cater to every taste bud, but they also embody the spirit of community. Poom brings together an array of artisanal bakers from across NYC area to share their talents and unique flavors under one roof. Whether you're craving something sweet or savory, this bakery is the place to be. A must-visit spot that's sure to boost your spirits and satisfy your cravings! I got these flakey mini pineapple cake cookies that had the perfect balance of tart and sweetness, and a super cute bear-shaped vegan brownie. Can't wait to try all the treats at Poom!

We tried the tofu brownie from Cafe Heeya and gosh they were so good. Very chewy outside and gets soft as you finish. I personally do not like very sweet desserts and this brownie was perfect for my semi-sweet taste! Will definitely come back to try Cafe Heeya’s other vegan baked goods!
