Posh Pop Bakeshop Introduce
For those living with dietary restrictions in New York City, finding a bakery that doesn't just "offer an option" but instead creates a world-class culinary experience is a rare find. Posh Pop Bakeshop has long been a legendary name among the gluten-free community in Manhattan, and its recent expansion to the Upper West Side has been met with significant local excitement. Located at 483 Columbus Avenue, this establishment is redefining what it means to eat gluten-free and dairy-free in the city. Unlike traditional bakeries where those with intolerances often feel like an afterthought, Posh Pop puts inclusivity at the forefront of their craft, ensuring that every customer can indulge in the joy of a fresh pastry without compromise.
The arrival of Posh Pop Bakeshop uptown marks a significant milestone for neighborhood residents who previously traveled downtown to Bleecker Street or across to 39th Street to secure their favorite treats. The atmosphere of the shop is vibrant, welcoming, and professional, designed to make every visitor feel at home. Whether you are a lifelong New Yorker managing celiac disease or simply a food enthusiast looking for high-quality baked goods that happen to be gluten-free, this bakeshop offers a level of variety and taste that is virtually unmatched in the five boroughs. It is more than just a retail space; it is a community hub where the staff is as passionate about the food as the customers are.
Location and Accessibility
Posh Pop Bakeshop is perfectly situated at 483 Columbus Avenue, New York, NY 10024. This prime Upper West Side location puts it right in the heart of one of Manhattan’s most scenic and pedestrian-friendly neighborhoods. The shop is nestled between 83rd and 84th Streets, making it a convenient stop for locals finishing a morning jog through Central Park or families spending an afternoon at the American Museum of Natural History, which is just a few blocks away.
Accessibility is a major highlight for this location. For those using the New York City subway system, the shop is easily reached via the 81st Street–Museum of Natural History station (B and C trains) or the 86th Street station (1 train). Furthermore, the M7 and M11 bus lines run directly along Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues, providing seamless transport for those traveling north or south through the borough. The storefront itself is designed to handle the steady flow of the neighborhood, and its presence on Columbus Avenue adds a "piece of happiness" to the local streetscape, allowing residents to enjoy a premium bakery experience right in their own backyard.
Services Offered
Posh Pop Bakeshop operates with a focus on high-touch customer service and product diversity. They understand that navigating dietary restrictions can be overwhelming, so they emphasize a guided service model. Here are the primary services offered at the Columbus Avenue location:
- Personalized counter service where knowledgeable staff members, like the frequently praised Nathan, walk customers through the extensive menu and ingredient lists.
- Specialized baking focused exclusively on gluten-free recipes, eliminating the risk of cross-contamination for sensitive diners.
- A wide variety of dairy-free and vegan-friendly options, ensuring that those with multiple food intolerances have plenty of choices.
- Efficient order fulfillment and "on top of it" staff who ensure that even custom orders are handled with precision and speed.
- Fresh daily production of complex pastries, including items rarely found in gluten-free versions, such as fried treats and moist donuts.
- A welcoming retail environment that caters to both quick takeout needs and those who want to browse the day's fresh selections.
Features / Highlights
What makes Posh Pop Bakeshop a standout in the competitive New York City bakery scene is its ability to create products that appeal to everyone, regardless of their dietary needs. The "missing out" feeling that often accompanies gluten-free eating is entirely absent here. Key highlights of this location include:
- Unmatched Variety: The shop is famous for offering a staggering array of treats, from brownies and cookies to elaborate cakes and seasonal specialties.
- Fried Delicacies: A major highlight is their fried Oreos—a fairground staple that is almost impossible to find in a gluten-free format elsewhere. They are so convincing that even those who aren't gluten-free have been known to "devour" them.
- Exceptional Texture: The bakery has mastered the science of alternative flours. Their apple cider donuts, for instance, are celebrated for being extremely moist and soft, a difficult feat in gluten-free and dairy-free baking.
- Patient and Kind Staff: Customer reviews frequently mention the staff's patience and genuine helpfulness, which is essential when customers have complex questions about ingredients.
- High Ingredient Integrity: While some items may use high-quality alternative bases like buckwheat or garbanzo bean flour, the overall flavor profile is designed to satisfy the most discerning palates.
- Neighborhood Convenience: The expansion to the Upper West Side has brought a "little piece of happiness" to uptown residents, saving them hours of travel time to other parts of the city.

What is worth choosing
When you step into Posh Pop Bakeshop, the sheer volume of choices can be daunting, but there are a few legendary items that have become staples for the New York crowd. If you are a fan of classic NYC treats, the gluten-free Fried Oreos are a non-negotiable choice. They have a reputation for being so delicious that even MTA bus drivers stop to ask about the smell, and they are perfect for sharing with friends—even those who don't follow a specific diet. The texture is crispy, sweet, and satisfying in a way that truly feels like a "cheat meal" without actually breaking your dietary rules.
For something a bit more seasonal or traditional, the Apple Cider Donut is a standout selection. It is particularly noteworthy for being both gluten-free and dairy-free while maintaining a moisture level that rivals any standard bakery donut. It is soft, flavorful, and serves as the perfect accompaniment to a morning coffee while walking through the Upper West Side. If you are looking for a more personalized experience, don't hesitate to ask the staff for a recommendation; employees like Nathan are experts at matching customers with the perfect treat based on their specific cravings. Whether you are looking for something decadently sweet or a subtle, moist pastry, Posh Pop Bakeshop ensures that you leave with a high-quality, safe, and delicious piece of the city's best baking.

The staff was very friendly and on top of my order! The first time I EVER had fried Oreos and I devoured them, the MTA bus driver smelled it and asked about it so I gave him one of the fried Oreos and he loved it, and he’s not even gluten free. I also had an apple cider donut, it was extremely moist and soft. There was a subtle hint of either buckwheat or garbanzo bean flour, I don’t love that taste but the overall donut taste was great. ESPECIALLY for being gluten free AND dairy free (which I have both intolerances). Super exciting to not “cheat” on my diets because they also have dairy free options!!

I am beyond thrilled that Posh Pop Bakery has finally made its way to the Upper West Side. I used to travel all the way to Bleecker Street or 39th Street just to get my fix, and now they are right here in my neighborhood. Nathan was incredible, kind, patient, and genuinely helpful in walking me through all the options. This bakery is a true blessing for anyone who is gluten free. The variety is unmatched, everything tastes amazing, and it never feels like you are missing out. Posh Pop is not just a bakery, it is an experience, and having it uptown now feels like a little piece of happiness moved in next door.

The place has bright pink walls, which perfectly matches the restaurant style. Plenty sweet options and the ones we tried (cookie and Smores Bar) were really good. For drinks, we got tea, coffee and hot chocolate and they all tasted great as well. Finally, we found the price to be fair, at around 10$ per person.

Very tasty Tiramisu Tres Leche. All the slices looked great and fresh, honestly couldn’t go wrong with any of them but I settled for a combo of my favorite two in one! I loved that they are mindful of the milk on the bottle of the tres leche so give it on the side so the cake doesn’t get too soggy. Quick service to-go or there is enough seating to enjoy there! Highly recommend!
