Apollo Bakery Introduce
In the bustling landscape of Flushing, Queens, where the culinary competition is as dense as the city’s history, finding a truly authentic dessert shop can feel like a daunting task for even the most seasoned New Yorker. However, Apollo Bakery stands as a beacon for those seeking genuine Asian flavors and the nostalgic charm of a family-run establishment. This local dessert shop has carved out a unique space for itself by prioritizing freshness, traditional techniques, and a welcoming atmosphere that reflects the heart of the community. For residents of New York who appreciate the nuance of Asian-style baking—where sweetness is balanced and textures are meticulously crafted—Apollo Bakery is more than just a place to buy a treat; it is a neighborhood institution.
Apollo Bakery is often described as a quintessential "mom-and-pop" shop, a rare find in an era dominated by large-scale franchises. This intimate scale allows the bakery to maintain a level of quality control and personal touch that larger operations simply cannot replicate. From the moment you walk through the doors on 39th Avenue, the aroma of freshly baked breads and sugar tells a story of hard work and dedication. It is the kind of place where you might see the owners’ children helping out, reinforcing the family-oriented values that underpin the business. This authentic environment makes every purchase feel personal, whether you are picking up a single bun for a morning commute or commissioning a centerpiece for a major life milestone.
Location and Accessibility
Strategically located at 135-36 39th Ave, Flushing, NY 11354, USA, Apollo Bakery is situated in one of the most vibrant and accessible parts of Queens. For local New Yorkers, the "Main Street" area of Flushing is a central hub, and Apollo Bakery is perfectly positioned just a short walk away from the primary transit corridors. The shop is easily reached via the 7 subway line, with the Flushing-Main St station serving as the nearest major transit point. This makes it an incredibly convenient stop for anyone traveling from Manhattan or other parts of Queens.
In addition to the subway, the bakery is accessible via numerous MTA bus lines that converge in the Flushing area, as well as the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) Flushing-Main St station. For those who prefer to drive, while street parking in Flushing can be competitive, there are several municipal and private parking garages in the immediate vicinity of 39th Avenue. The bakery’s central location ensures that it remains a convenient destination for both the daily commuter looking for a fresh snack and the host looking to pick up a dessert for a weekend gathering. The storefront itself is approachable and fits seamlessly into the local streetscape, inviting passersby to step in and discover what is baking fresh that day.

What is worth choosing
If you are a first-time visitor to Apollo Bakery, there are a few items that are widely considered "must-tries." For those planning a wedding or a large party, the wedding cake service is highly recommended. Choosing a combination of sheet cakes and layered cakes allows for a beautiful display while remaining budget-friendly. Got our wedding cake here and was very pleased how it turned out. We got a sheet cake and 2 layer cake. The price was very reasonable. Really great Asian flavors — we got taro custard in sweet cream and berries YUM. All of our guests were asian and of course it was a big hit at the fraction of the price of a more traditional wedding cake! Plus look at how CUTE it is :) P.S. My mom is taiwanese and she loves the breads here too

Little mom and pops shop. In house bakery. Everything is fresh. I got pineapple cake and a few other items. Typical Asian shop, the little girl was helping the parents out.

Bad tiramisu, feel like it has been in the cold box for a while, but could not complain much for 4$. The shop is cozy and offers a wide variety of asian pastries. The attendant seems nice.

Excellent tiny bakery for buns, bread, milk tea, and dessert. The Napoleon has a few bits of fruit, flaky layers, and some custard cream. It's around $7 The scallion bun is soft bread with scallion on top. ~$2.50 The berry bun is soft bread with frosted sugar and some blueberry filling inside. ~$3
