Bao's Pastry 鲍师傅糕点 Introduce
For New York food enthusiasts and those with a penchant for authentic international flavors, the arrival of a world-renowned brand is always a cause for celebration. Bao's Pastry, known in its home country as 鲍师傅糕点 (Bao Shi Fu), has officially crossed the ocean to open its very first United States location right here in the heart of Flushing, Queens. Since its highly anticipated debut toward the end of 2025, this bakery has quickly become a focal point for the local community and visitors alike. It brings a unique tradition of Chinese baking that emphasizes texture, freshness, and a specialized focus on "floss" cakes—a category of pastry that has garnered a massive following across Asia and is now taking New York by storm.
Walking toward the storefront on Roosevelt Avenue, you are immediately greeted by a sense of modern professionalism blended with artisanal craftsmanship. The establishment is designed to be both a retail space and a visual experience. Unlike traditional bakeries where the magic happens behind closed doors, Bao's Pastry invites the public to witness the meticulous process of creation. Through large, pristine glass windows at the entrance, local shoppers can watch the skilled pastry chefs at work, assembling delicate layers of sponge cake, cream, and savory toppings. This transparency not only ensures a high standard of hygiene but also builds a deep sense of trust and excitement for the customers waiting in line. It is a factual representation of the "freshly made" promise that the brand stands for.
Location and Accessibility
Bao's Pastry is strategically located at 135-25 Roosevelt Avenue, Flushing, NY 11354, USA. This positioning is ideal for anyone living in or visiting the New York region, as it sits within one of the city's most active commercial hubs. Roosevelt Avenue is a primary artery of Flushing, making the bakery exceptionally easy to reach via public transportation. It is just a short walk from the Main Street station on the 7 subway line, as well as various bus routes and the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR). For local New Yorkers, this means the bakery serves as a convenient stop during a daily commute or a weekend shopping trip. While the area is known for being high-energy and crowded, the bakery maintains an organized system to manage the flow of visitors, ensuring that the experience remains pleasant even during peak hours.

What is worth choosing
If it is your first time visiting Bao's Pastry, the selection can be delightfully overwhelming. However, based on the bakery's historical success and local feedback, there are specific items that are absolutely worth choosing to get the full "Bao Shi Fu" experience. The Seaweed Crispy Floss Cake is perhaps the most iconic item on the menu. This pastry features a perfect structural balance: a light, airy sponge cake core filled with a delicate cream, then coated in a generous layer of savory, crispy seaweed and meat floss. The contrast between the crunch of the exterior and the softness of the interior is a hallmark of their technique.
For those looking to explore different flavor profiles, the Coffee Floss offers a modern, aromatic twist on the traditional recipe, while the Vegetable Floss provides a delicious alternative for those who prefer that specific savory note. Another standout item is the Fish Sponge Cake, which is praised for its incredibly soft texture and subtle, clean flavor. Many customers find it rewarding to purchase a variety of single items to sample the breadth of the menu. Everything is freshly packaged, making it easy to take home multiple boxes to share with friends or family. Whether you are a fan of traditional Beijing snacks or a local New Yorker looking for the next big thing in the city's food scene, choosing the signature floss cakes is the best way to understand why this bakery has a global reputation.
In summary, Bao's Pastry is a significant addition to the Flushing landscape. It offers a professional, factual glimpse into high-end Chinese snack culture. The combination of its convenient location on Roosevelt Avenue, its organized service, and its unique product lineup makes it a must-visit for anyone in the New York area. It’s a place where you can watch "the magic behind the scenes" and walk away with a box of pastries that represent the very best of a Beijing legend, now finally available in the heart of Queens.

This place is famous from Beijing and only one location in the US that recently opened at the end of 2025. Vegetable Floss, Coffee Floss and Fish Sponge Cake are what stood out to me and was delicious! I was able to get one of each item in the store. The bakery is very crowded but organized. Enjoy your time there the way I did. I loved the entrance having glass windows showcasing the way workers created their sweets at the ready, freshly made!

I first tried Bao’s Pastry when I was in China, so I was excited to see that they opened their first location in Flushing. The line was surprisingly short. Waited about five minutes before getting inside. I liked that everything was freshly packaged and well organized. You can even watch the magic behind the scenes through a glass wall that shows the entire kitchen and the chefs at work. I bought two boxes of the seaweed crispy floss cake. It had the perfect combination of crispy floss on the outside and a light cream filling with soft cake inside. I would definitely come back to try their other pastries again

Bao Pastry — Flushing, Queens Star Rating: ⭐️⭐️☆☆☆ (2/5) The line stretches onto the sidewalk in true Flushing fashion — a reliable sign that something inside is drawing serious attention. Through the glass windows, you can watch a factory-style production line in motion, with staff shaping and baking fresh bao even at 8 p.m., reinforcing the nonstop demand and freshness. Two items define the experience. The Seaweed Pork Floss Cake (肉松小贝) is the house signature: an ultra-soft, airy sponge layered with light cream and blanketed in savory, fluffy pork floss. The sweet-savory balance and pillowy texture make it easy to understand why it’s the crowd favorite. The taro egg tart arrives in a beautifully blistered, flaky shell that stays crisp and buttery. Unfortunately, served cold, the custard loses the silky warmth and aroma that make egg tarts so comforting. The taro flavor is pleasant and gently sweet, but the chill dulls what should be a rich, satisfying bite. After waiting in line, the temperature alone turns anticipation into disappointment. With demand this strong, keeping the egg tarts gently warmed would preserve their texture and aroma — and help the experience live up to the hype. Verdict: Come for the pork floss cake and the fresh-from-the-line energy. A simple warmer for the egg tarts could elevate the experience and keep the line justified.

Tried an assortment of goodies from this new spot in Flushing. Glad i waited in the line because all were fresh and delicious! I loved the cookies as they had the right amount of sweetness and were melt in your mouth tasty! I did feel reluctant to wait in the long line outside in the cold today but surprisingly the line moved along nicely and before I knew it I was inside picking out goodies! Very interesting place to visit as you can watch the various snacks being made on the spot. They have a glass wall so you really see behind the scenes and it’s interesting to watch! Employees very helpful, answering questions and very cordial and friendly. Great and different addition to Flushing and will certainly return!

I went on Chinese New Year and they literally had a line the whole day. We decided to just come back at night and there was still a line, but surprisingly it only took around five to ten minutes. It was actually really quick and moved smoothly. I got the milk cake, coffee floss cake, and egg tart and all of them were amazing. I was so impressed with how soft the cake sandwiches were. They were super fluffy and not overly sweet at all, just perfectly balanced. It made them so easy to enjoy without feeling heavy. I also loved how thoughtful the packaging was. The bag was semi insulated which helped keep everything fresh, and they even included sporks, disposable gloves, and an angpao for Chinese New Year. That small detail made the whole experience feel extra special. Overall it was such a good experience and I can definitely see why this shop is viral. I will for sure be coming back.
