Artuso Pastry Shop Introduce
In the historic Belmont neighborhood of the Bronx, a place fondly recognized as the "Real Little Italy" of New York, Artuso Pastry Shop stands as a monumental testament to Italian-American culinary tradition. Since its founding in 1946 by Vincent Artuso Sr., this bakery has evolved from a humble local shop into a nationally recognized landmark. For New Yorkers, Artuso is more than just a place to buy sweets; it is a multi-generational destination where the air is thick with the scent of toasted almonds, powdered sugar, and freshly brewed espresso. The shop’s history is literally written on its walls, adorned with portraits of the Artuso family, reflecting a legacy that has spanned over 70 years and four generations. When you step onto the corner of East 187th Street, you are stepping into a piece of living history that continues to define the high standards of Bronx baking.
The experience of visiting Artuso Pastry Shop is uniquely New York. It is a bustling, high-energy environment where the "take a ticket" system is a rite of passage, ensuring that every customer in the often-crowded shop is served with care. The atmosphere manages to feel both professional and incredibly personal, with staff members—like the frequently praised Tyler—who are experts at navigating the vibrant, sometimes rowdy crowds of locals and tourists alike. Whether you are a regular who has been coming since childhood or a first-time visitor walking through Little Italy, Artuso provides a sensory journey through the best of Italian pastry arts, maintaining an "excellent" Zagat rating for nearly a decade and a reputation for being one of the most reliable bakeries in the tri-state area.
Location and Accessibility
Artuso Pastry Shop is located at 670 E 187th St, Bronx, NY 10458, USA, at the iconic corner of Cambreleng Avenue and what was officially renamed "Vincent F. Artuso, Sr. Way" in 1996. This location is the beating heart of the Belmont section, just a short walk from the famous Arthur Avenue Retail Market. For those traveling by public transportation, the shop is accessible via the Bx17, Bx9, and Bx12 bus lines, and is a manageable distance from the Fordham Road subway stations (4, B, D lines) and the Metro-North Fordham station.
For those driving from other boroughs or the suburbs, the shop is conveniently reachable via the Bronx River Parkway or the I-95. While street parking in Belmont can be competitive, the bakery's sprawling storefront—which tripled in size in the 1970s to take up half a city block—is easy to spot. The shop's accessibility extends beyond the physical location as well; for New Yorkers who have moved away but still crave a taste of the Bronx, Artuso offers nationwide shipping, bringing their famous twine-wrapped boxes to doorsteps across the country. Locally, it remains a cornerstone for the community, providing a spacious and clean environment that welcomes everyone from university students to longtime neighborhood residents.

What is Worth Choosing
When you find yourself at Artuso, there are several "must-try" items that define the shop’s reputation. First and foremost are the Nutella-stuffed lobster tails. These pastries offer a modern twist on a classic Italian structure—the shell is incredibly flaky and crisp, providing the perfect contrast to the rich, smooth hazelnut filling. For those who prefer traditional flavors, the standard cannoli remains a top-tier choice; they are often dusted with fresh powdered sugar right before being placed in the box, ensuring the shell stays as crisp as possible for your trip home.
The cookie selection is also where Artuso shines. The vanilla lace cookies and the "lingerie" cookies are local favorites for their delicate textures and balanced sweetness. If you are shopping for a group, the tri-color (rainbow) cookies are a mandatory addition to any box—they are consistently fresh, moist, and possess the perfect ratio of almond sponge to chocolate glaze. Finally, if you are visiting during the summer months, do not overlook their Italian ices, which have been a staple of Bronx summers for decades. Choosing Artuso means choosing a piece of New York’s heritage; whether it's a simple free cannoli for a first-timer or an elaborate wedding cake, the commitment to the "American Dream" is tasted in every bite.

This place is amazing love all the portraits of Artuso. He’s looking very authentic. Haven’t tried anything yet, but I’m sure this will be good writing this for the free cannoli. Update got the free cannoli and experience Tyler. He was amazing. Very good at dealing with for rowdy women.

This is what a $50 delivery will get you. Not only were they melted, smashed and ugly to look at. The chocolate was bitter and the strawberries were old and mushy. Very unhappy.
