Located on the bustling corridor of East 14th Street, this shop serves as a vital resource for East Village residents and commuters alike. Bagel Market prides itself on upholding the rigorous traditions of New York bagel making, utilizing the hand-rolled and kettle-boiled methods that define the "authentic" city bagel. Since its opening at this location, it has quickly filled a void for locals looking for a dependable, high-quality bagel shop that balances speed with artisanal craftsmanship.
The shop is more than just a place to grab a quick roll; it is a full-service market that caters to a wide variety of culinary needs. With a bright, modern interior and a welcoming atmosphere, it reflects the evolving energy of the neighborhood. Whether you are looking for a simple "everything" bagel with a generous schmear of cream cheese or an elaborate breakfast sandwich to fuel a long day of work, Bagel Market delivers with a level of consistency that has already garnered a loyal following. The staff is frequently noted for their friendly demeanor, contributing to a community-focused vibe that makes the shop feel like a long-standing neighborhood staple despite being a relatively fresh addition to the block.
Location and Accessibility
Bagel Market is ideally situated at 238 E 14th St, New York, NY 10003, USA. Positioned strategically between 2nd Avenue and 3rd Avenue, it sits at a primary crossroads where the East Village meets Gramercy. This location is incredibly convenient for local residents who may not want to trek several blocks toward the parks or deeper into the Village for their morning fix. For those using public transportation, the shop is exceptionally accessible, located just a short walk from the 14 St-Union Square station (serving the 4, 5, 6, L, N, Q, R, and W lines) and directly adjacent to the 1st and 2nd Avenue L train stops and multiple M14 bus routes.
The accessibility of the shop makes it a "go-to" spot for those navigating the 14th Street thoroughfare. Its storefront is easy to spot, and the interior is designed to handle the fast-paced flow of New York foot traffic. Whether you are a student at a nearby university, a medical professional from the nearby hospital corridor, or a local resident taking a morning stroll, the shop’s central position ensures you can get in and out with minimal disruption to your schedule. The convenience of having a top-tier bagel shop on this specific stretch of 14th Street has been a highlighted point of praise among the local community.

What is worth choosing
When visiting Bagel Market, the "BEC" (Bacon, Egg, and Cheese) is an absolute standout. Local reviewers have rated it a "10/10," noting that it is well worth the price for the quality of the ingredients and the perfect execution of the classic New York breakfast staple. The bacon is consistently crispy, the eggs are fluffy, and the cheese is perfectly melted, all housed within a fresh, chewy bagel that provides the ideal structural integrity for a sandwich. It is a hearty choice that represents the best of what a neighborhood bagel shop should offer.
For those who prefer a more traditional route, the Everything Bagel with plain or scallion cream cheese is a testament to the shop's foundational skills. The seasoning on the everything bagel is balanced, and the cream cheese is applied with the generous hand that New Yorkers expect. If you are stopping by for lunch, the "Indulgence" menu offers more adventurous choices like the #5 Philly Cheesesteak or the #4 Cheesy Fried Chicken, which turn a standard bagel into a full, satisfying meal. Don't forget to pair your selection with one of their specialty iced coffees—the Greek-style Freddo Espresso is a refreshing, high-caffeine choice that cuts through the richness of a cream cheese-laden bagel perfectly. Whether you are a regular or a first-timer, the sheer breadth of the menu means there is always something new and delicious to discover.

Friendly people inside. I got my usual everything bagel with cream cheese. It was good for the convenience of having a place on 14th ST between 2nd and 3rd Ave. Glad it opened up when I don't want to walk far for a bagel. Very extensive menu! Worth coming back to try something different for lunch next time.

My new morning spot. Tasty bagels with good prices, easy in and out when Tompkins Square Bagels has a 45 min line, and online ordering makes it even more convenient Update: They disabled online ordering 🙁
