What is worth choosing
If it is your first time visiting Bear Donut, there are a few items that are widely considered "unmissable" by the local community. Chief among these is the Passion Fruit Mochi Donut. This particular treat perfectly encapsulates what makes this shop special; it offers a sweet and chewy texture with a bright, tropical tang that provides a necessary contrast to the richness of the dough. It is a refreshing take on a donut that leaves you feeling satisfied rather than weighed down. Another top-tier choice for those who prefer classic dessert flavors is the Crème Brûlée Donut, which combines a soft interior with a signature caramelized sugar crunch that mimics the famous French dessert.
Beyond the donuts themselves, Bear Donut has gained a cult following for its beverage menu. The Ube Matcha Latte is frequently cited by locals as their "new favorite" drink in Manhattan. The combination of the vibrant, purple ube (purple yam) with the earthy notes of high-quality matcha creates a drink that is both visually stunning and incredibly flavorful. It is described by frequent flyers as the perfect "pick-me-up" for a midday slump. For those who prefer something a bit more decadent, the iced cookie butter latte is another standout that pairs excellently with the subtle sweetness of a plain or glazed mochi donut.
Ultimately, what is worth choosing at Bear Donut is the opportunity to try something a bit different from the standard New York fare. Whether you are going for the chewy perfection of the mochi rings or the innovative lattes, you are participating in a new chapter of the city's culinary story. The shop manages to hit that elusive "sweet spot" of being a reliable daily stop while also feeling like a special treat. Next time you find yourself near 31st Street, make sure to add this quick stop to your list; your taste buds will certainly thank you for the visit.

Hands down my favorite donut shop. The varieties and flavors just hit. It's enough selection without having too many choices. Delicious, sweet, savory, filling and just a circle of perfection. The staff is always friendly and patient. Definitely add this quick stop to your list and you'll be glad you did!

My new favorite quick dessert & coffee spot in Midtown (and arguably Manhattan). The ube matcha latte is to die for. The perfect rich, earthy, sweet drink when you need a pick me up. I have hardly seen this combo anywhere else and it leaves you wanting more. I cannot recommend this hidden gem of a drink enough. My sister also had the iced cookie butter latte which I was told is very tasty. As for the donuts, they exceed expectations. No pictures can truly do them justice. My favorite was the passion fruit mochi doughnut which was sweet, chewy, soft, & had the right amount of tropical tang. The crème brûlée donut was a close second. I’ll certainly be back!

The ice cream flavors are out of this world. Banana pudding pumpkin spice ?! I came for the donuts tho. I tried to the cookies & cream. Pretty standard cookie and cream flavor. The donut was soft and melted in my mouth. It was tasty. The real winner was the strawberry milk. I’m not usually a fan of cream filled donuts but this was a hit. The cream tasted just like strawberry milk. It was delicious. The dough was soft and chewy. It had a bit of saltiness to it. I enjoyed this experience !

Bear Donut is seriously one of the cutest spots in NYC. The vibes are immaculate, the branding is on point, and the lavender cold cream cold brew hit the spot. My boyfriend’s caramel mocha was supposed to be dairy-free but came with dairy anyway, so that was a little yikes. Staff seemed a bit unsure about the drinks, but I’m still a fan of the concept and flavors. The donuts looked amazing and the shop is aesthetic overload in the best way. I’ll probably come back and give it another shot—just hoping for better communication next time.
