We walked down to Korea town on New Years Day to celebrate. After lunch, we stopped in to Tous Les-Jours on 32nd street right in the middle of all the Korean restaurants. It was pretty busy today so we found a seat all the way in the back. Most seats were taken. We had a decaf Americano and a pistachio filled donut. Both quite good. Place your order for coffee at the front as you pay for the pastries. They give you a buzzer and buzz you when the coffee is ready to pick up. Very efficient.

I visited this NYC location today and left wondering how an establishment with such a good product can allow its operational standards to bottom out so completely. For the record your 23rd street location service is far greater. 1. The "Hostility" in Hospitality The front-of-house culture here is shockingly ungrateful. The staff member at the far-right register didn't just provide "bad service"—she provided an atmosphere of active resentment. No greeting, no eye contact, and a demeanor that suggested the customers were an inconvenience to her evening. Not even a thank you. Just wow. Adding to this lack of professionalism, the entire team was operating without name tags. In any high-stakes service environment, anonymity is a tool for the lazy and the rude. When staff can’t be identified, they feel empowered to treat customers like an intrusion. It is a massive breach of standard retail SOPs if you have any? 2. A Collapse in Basic Sanitation The state of the facilities is where the "professional" facade truly falls apart. Based on the documentation I took today, the restroom maintenance is non-existent: Waste Management: The trash receptacle was overflowing to the point of absurdity, with soiled paper and debris literally spilling onto the floor. And the pot was dirty and stained. Operational Neglect: This isn't a "sudden rush" issue; this is a failure of management to perform basic floor checks. If the areas the public can see are this neglected, it raises immediate and serious questions about the hygiene standards in the areas the public cannot see. 3. Final Assessment for Management You have a "Grade A" product being served by a "Grade D" team. In a city like New York, you cannot coast on brand name alone while your staff acts like they’re doing the public a favor. Your bakers deserve better than a front-of-house team that treats guests with disdain and a management team that can’t be bothered to empty a trash can. This location is currently a liability to the brand. Clean it up—starting with the bathrooms and ending with the attitudes at the register. Training is highly recommended.

came here for the first time it is pretty and huge and has a lot of options the workers was kind .. i tried the taro cake and it was disgusting . very bitter taste and food coloring all over . 8.75$ for a tiny cake??? and it’s disgusting? it’s probably overpriced because of the location but i will be trying a different flavor .

The bakery has not noticeably changed much for all the years I’ve been a customer. Considering the retail space this location offers, I expect better optimization in the store layout, seating arrangements and lighting (especially in certain parts of the shop). As for their food and beverages—I very much enjoy their limited-time seasonal selections.

Fantastic bakery with a great selection of pastries, cakes and bread. Everything is fresh, and the quality is excellent. The croissants are buttery and flaky and their cakes are light and not overly sweet. They also serve coffee, which is very good quality, with interesting flavors like pistachio. The shop has a nice atmosphere and the service is friendly. There’s plenty sitting area inside as well. Definitely a great spot for a coffee and pastry break!
