Black Seed Bagels - Rockefeller Center Introduce
In the architectural heart of New York City, Black Seed Bagels at Rockefeller Center serves as a vital culinary destination for commuters, tourists, and Midtown professionals alike. Located within the subterranean pulse of the iconic Rockefeller Building, this bagel shop has carved out a unique niche by blending traditional New York baking techniques with a distinctive wood-fired finish. For those navigating the busy hallways of 30 Rock, finding a breakfast that is both "phenomenal" and reasonably priced can be a challenge, yet Black Seed Bagels consistently delivers a high-quality product that stands out in one of the world's most famous landmarks.
Black Seed Bagels is not your average New York deli. It represents a modern evolution of the bagel craft, known for its hybrid approach that incorporates a touch of Montreal-style sweetness with the classic New York density. This specific location under the Rockefeller Building offers a "snug little place" that feels like a hidden gem tucked away from the more crowded, popular locations just outside the building's perimeter. Whether you are starting your morning before a meeting or seeking a quick lunch between sightseeing stops, this shop provides a fast, efficient experience that prioritizes the quality of the dough and the freshness of the ingredients. It is an essential stop for anyone wanting to explore the diverse bagel landscape of Manhattan.
Location and Accessibility
Daily operations for this Black Seed Bagels branch take place at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, NY 10112, USA. This is perhaps one of the most prestigious addresses in the city, situated right in the center of the Rockefeller Center complex. Being "under the Rockefeller Building" means it is part of the extensive concourse system that connects various buildings and subway lines, making it an incredibly convenient stop during inclement weather or during a busy workday. It is easily accessible via the B, D, F, and M subway lines at the 47-50th Streets–Rockefeller Center station, which opens directly into the underground shopping and dining areas.
Accessibility is a major highlight for this Midtown location. Since it is located within the "Rock," it serves as a central hub for those working at NBC, the Rainbow Room, or the Top of the Rock observation deck. For local New Yorkers, it provides a reliable, fast-paced option in an area that can often feel overwhelmed by tourists. The shop’s position allows it to be a quiet retreat—a snug spot away from the heavy foot traffic of 5th and 6th Avenues—while remaining only steps away from the main Midtown thoroughfares. Whether you are arriving by subway or walking from a nearby office, the shop is easy to find once you enter the Rockefeller Plaza concourse level.
Services Offered

Features and Highlights
What makes Black Seed Bagels at Rockefeller Center a distinct choice among the myriad of bagel shops in New York are its specific operational features and the quality of its artisanal products. Residents and visitors alike appreciate the following highlights:
- Wood-Fired Tradition: The bagels are boiled in honey water and finished in a wood-fired oven, resulting in a unique texture and flavor profile.
- Fast Service: Recognized for being a "fast" shop, it is optimized for the Midtown pace where every minute counts during a commute.
- Value for Money: In a high-rent district like 10112, customers note that the "price is not bad" for the level of quality provided.
- A "Snug" Retreat: The shop offers a cozy, intimate feel that contrasts with the grand scale of the surrounding skyscraper.

What is worth choosing
When visiting Black Seed Bagels at Rockefeller Center, there are a few standout choices that represent the best of what the shop has to offer. The most highly recommended item based on local feedback is the Pastrami, Egg & Cheese combo, specifically ordered on an "everything" bagel. This sandwich is frequently described as "phenomenal" and perfectly encapsulates the hearty, savory breakfast experience that New Yorkers crave. The everything bagel at Black Seed is notable for its robust seasoning, which holds up well against the richness of the pastrami and the creaminess of the egg and cheese.
Another excellent choice is their selection of freshly brewed coffee, which serves as a reliable companion to any bagel selection. It is important to note that because the shop is designed for efficiency and speed, there are some logistical factors to keep in mind. The shop is a grab-and-go destination, as it currently has "poor seating areas" or no dedicated seating of its own. However, the Rockefeller Center concourse provides plenty of nearby public benches and seating areas where you can enjoy your meal. Additionally, if you prefer your bagel heavily toasted, be sure to communicate your preference clearly, as the high speed of the shop can sometimes result in a lighter toast. Despite the hustle and bustle, the quality of the dough and the expert seasoning make Black Seed a top-tier choice for a true "Rock Center" breakfast experience. Whether you are grabbing a quick plain bagel with schmear or a loaded signature sandwich, the artisanal quality makes it a worthy addition to your New York morning routine.

Black Seed Bagels, under the Rockefeller Building. Bagel shop that has bagels of course, and coffee. It’s fast. Price is not bad. You are going to wait a little bit to get your purchases. And when you do, if you ask for a toasted, at least ours came back a little bit cool. Poor seating areas. The shop has none.

Hi, I ordered the Pastrami, Egg & Cheese combo on an everything bagel! This “Black Seed” is Located in the “Rock” makes it a snug little place away from all the popular locations just outside! I am most certainly gonna explore their other locations as well like the one in SoHo! Because the bagel I had was PHENOMENAL 💚 #GnarlyDavidson

I had no clue there was an entire life underneath Rockefeller Center until I was looking for a bagel shop for lunch. It was so fun under there. Tons of places. The bagel shop was delicious, staff was friendly, and great people watching.

I visit NYC quite often and always get a bagel for breakfast when in the city. I have tried numerous bagel shops over the years and have some favourites, but I'd never been to Black Seed Bagels before. So visited for an everything bagel with scallion cream cheese plus bacon. Sadly, it was disappointing compared to what I've had from other NYC outlets. The bagel was quite flat, over cooked, hard and on the dry side. So I can’t recommend it based on my bagel experience.

Awesome NY style bagels and sandwiches. The lox and dill cream cheese is amazing. They are super busy but offer fast service.
