Lady Wong Patisserie (Urban Hawker – Midtown) Introduce
In the vibrant, fast-paced heart of Midtown Manhattan, a unique culinary destination has emerged that transports New Yorkers straight to the bustling night markets and refined tea rooms of Southeast Asia. Lady Wong Patisserie, located within the celebrated Urban Hawker food hall, is far more than a typical New York pastry shop. It is a sophisticated bridge between traditional Eastern flavors and modern Western pastry techniques. For locals working in the surrounding office towers or residents seeking a world-class treat, Lady Wong has quickly become a "must-visit" destination, offering a menu that is both nostalgic for those familiar with Asian heritage and exhilarating for those discovering these ingredients for the first time.
The story of Lady Wong is one of passion and precision. Founded by chefs who honed their skills in Michelin-starred kitchens, the patisserie specializes in infusing French pastry foundations with the vibrant palettes of Singapore, Malaysia, and beyond. In a city where dessert trends come and go, Lady Wong stands out by focusing on balance—balancing the aromatic earthiness of pandan, the richness of coconut, and the subtle sweetness of tropical fruits. At the Urban Hawker location, this translates into a curated selection of their most popular items, designed to provide a high-end dessert experience within the energetic, communal atmosphere of New York's premier Singaporean-style hawker center.
What truly defines Lady Wong for the local New York community is the visual and sensory impact of their creations. Every item behind the glass is a testament to meticulous craftsmanship. From the legendary layers of their Mille Crêpe cakes to the vibrant green hues of their traditional pandan bakes, the presentation is consistently "beautifully presented" and "packed with flavor." Whether you are a long-time fan who has visited them "so many times" or a newcomer stepping into Urban Hawker for the first time, the experience is designed to be memorable. It is a place where the "city vibe" of Midtown meets the exotic allure of the East, creating a dessert destination that locals rank among the very best in the city.
Location and Accessibility
Lady Wong Patisserie is perfectly situated at 135 W 50th St, New York, NY 10020, USA, inside the Urban Hawker food hall. This prime Midtown location makes it exceptionally accessible for a wide variety of New Yorkers. It is nestled right in the center of the business district, just a short walk from Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, and the Broadway theater district. For office workers in the 10020 zip code, it serves as the ultimate midday reprieve or a sophisticated stop for an after-work treat to take home.
Accessibility via public transportation is one of the shop’s greatest strengths. It is located near several major subway hubs, including the 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Ctr station (serving the B, D, F, and M trains) and the 50 St station (serving the 1, 2, A, C, and E trains). This connectivity ensures that whether you are coming from the Upper West Side, Downtown, or even the outer boroughs, Lady Wong is an easy destination. The food hall itself provides a sheltered, indoor environment, making it a reliable year-round destination regardless of New York's unpredictable weather. The stall is designed for efficiency, catering to the fast-paced nature of Midtown while maintaining the elegance of a high-end boutique.

Address: 135 W 50th St, New York, NY 10020, USA (Inside Urban Hawker)

What is worth choosing
When visiting Lady Wong for the first time, or even for the tenth time, there is one item that stands above all others: the Mille Crêpe cake. These cakes are the "real star" of the menu and are consistently described by locals as some of the best in the United States. The Matcha Pandan Mille Crêpe is a definitive choice, offering a delicate balance between the earthy tones of high-quality matcha and the fragrant, floral notes of pandan. The layers are famously thin and light, held together by a cream that is rich but never heavy. If you are looking for something slightly more unique, the Mont Blanc Mille Crêpe offers a sophisticated nutty profile that is perfect for those who enjoy a less traditional flavor path.
Beyond the crêpe cakes, any item featuring pandan is highly recommended. Pandan is often called the "vanilla of the East," and Lady Wong uses it with masterful restraint and expertise. Their traditional pandan desserts offer a texture and flavor profile that is hard to find elsewhere in Manhattan with this level of refinement. Additionally, keep a close eye on any items with a "hand written sign." These are often limited-run experiments or seasonal specials that allow the chefs to flex their creative muscles with the freshest ingredients available. These items are often "worthwhile" specifically because they offer a glimpse into the future of Southeast Asian pastry innovation. Whether you are grabbing a single slice or a curated box of assorted tarts, Lady Wong provides a "Top 3" experience that truly elevates the New York dessert scene.

We’ve been to Lady Wong so many times, and we still really like it. This time we got the Matcha Pandan Mille Crêpe, the Mont Blanc Mille Crêpe, and their traditional pandan dessert. Everything was good, but their mille crêpe cakes are the real star — always light, creamy, and super tasty. In my book, their mille crêpe will forever be Top 3. Just so, so good.

One of the few worthwhile stalls in Urban Hawker. Few items than their east village location, but all the popular ones are available. Lots of pandan items, other tarts and cakes both packed with flavor and beautifully presented. Do check out any item with a hand written sign as those are limited time or experimental items.

Delightful South East Asian cakes. A bit pricey but considering the location, it’s understandable. The servers were friendly. I only bought one piece of cake (Cassava) a small piece $3.95+tax. The cake had the right level of sweetness and texture. Will be back to try other cakes.

Outstanding carrot cake. The place is a great place to get dessert right near Times Square. The atmosphere is great but the music is a little loud for my liking. Price is a little high but nothing ridiculous.

Favorite was the pandan tart, second favorite was the mango sticky rice tart, third was the crepe, and fourth was the kueh. All the desserts were good. Only thing is the bakery doesn't have much of it's own vibe because it's in a food hall. It's counter service.
