Broad Nosh Introduce
In a city where the bagel is more than just a breakfast item—it is a cultural institution—Broad Nosh has carved out a distinct presence in the competitive New York landscape. For locals in Manhattan and commuters passing through the Midtown area, finding a reliable spot that balances the traditional "crunch and chew" of a proper bagel with modern convenience is essential. Broad Nosh serves as a neighborhood cornerstone, offering an array of baked goods that cater to the fast-paced lifestyle of New Yorkers while maintaining the quality expected of a premium bagel shop. This establishment has become a frequent stop for those who value a classic New York morning routine, combining high-quality ingredients with the bustling energy of 9th Avenue.
Broad Nosh is widely recognized for its commitment to the fundamental art of the bagel. In the New York region, the criteria for a "good" bagel are strict: it must have a shiny, slightly crisp exterior and a dense, doughy interior that provides a satisfying resistance when bitten. Based on feedback from the local community and regular patrons, this shop consistently hits those marks. While the city offers countless options for quick bites, this location stands out by focusing on the core elements of the New York deli experience—freshly baked rings of dough, an extensive variety of cream cheese schmears, and a selection of hot breakfast sandwiches designed to fuel a long day in the city.
Location and Accessibility
Strategically positioned at 587 9th Ave, New York, NY 10036, Broad Nosh is located in the heart of the Midtown West area, often referred to by locals as Hell’s Kitchen. Its proximity to the Port Authority Bus Terminal and the Lincoln Tunnel makes it an incredibly convenient stop for those entering or leaving Manhattan. For residents living in the high-rise apartments nearby or professionals working in the surrounding office towers, the shop offers a dependable local option that is easily accessible by foot.
The accessibility of the shop fluctuates depending on the timing of your visit, a common trait for popular New York eateries. During peak weekend hours, specifically Sunday mornings, the shop is a magnet for the breakfast crowd, often resulting in a full house where seating is at a premium. However, the shop is designed to handle both sit-down patrons and those on the go. During mid-week periods, such as a Tuesday morning, the environment shifts to a much quieter, more relaxed pace, providing ample opportunity to find a table and enjoy a meal inside. For those visiting during the busiest times, the surrounding neighborhood offers plenty of outdoor space to enjoy a sandwich while soaking in the Midtown atmosphere.

What is Worth Choosing
When visiting Broad Nosh, the smartest move for any local or visitor is to lean into the shop's core strengths: the bagels and cream cheese. The consensus among regular patrons is that the bagels themselves are the true stars of the menu. They possess the "right" texture—that elusive balance of a chewy bite and a soft interior that defines the New York style. Pairing a fresh everything bagel with a generous serving of their solid, flavorful cream cheese is a choice that rarely disappoints and represents the best value for your money.
For those looking for something more substantial to start their day, the hot bagel sandwiches are highly recommended. These are often cited as a highlight of the Broad Nosh experience, especially when paired with their delicious coffee. These items provide a savory, satisfying, and authentically "New York" breakfast that hits the spot without the complexity of larger deli orders. The service for these items is typically fast, ensuring that even if you are in a rush to catch a bus at Port Authority, you can still secure a high-quality meal.
While the menu is expansive, it is worth noting that sticking to the bakery and breakfast staples is the preferred strategy here. Some customers have found the more expensive deli meat sandwiches, such as the pastrami, to be less balanced in terms of preparation and price-to-value ratio. To ensure the best possible experience, focus on the items that Broad Nosh has mastered—the fresh bagels, the rich schmears, and the classic egg-and-cheese combinations. By prioritizing these traditional favorites, you are guaranteed a meal that captures the essence of a great New York bagel shop in one of the city's most vibrant neighborhoods.
Ultimately, Broad Nosh is a dependable destination for anyone in the 10036 area seeking a genuine taste of the city. Whether you are catching a quiet table on a Tuesday morning or grabbing a hot sandwich to eat on the move during a frantic Sunday, the quality of the bagels remains a constant. It is a place that understands its role in the daily life of New Yorkers: providing a high-quality, no-nonsense breakfast that keeps the city moving forward.

I’m honestly so disappointed. I ordered the pastrami sandwich expecting something worth the $21 price tag, and it absolutely was not. The slices of meat were HUGE and ridiculously thick, not in a generous, melt in your mouth way, but in an unbalanced, hard to enjoy way. On top of that, most of the pieces were heavily saturated with fat, which made the sandwich feel greasy and overwhelming instead of flavorful. There was barely a squirt of mustard on the whole thing, and they gave me ONE single slice of mozzarella sitting on top of all that meat. Nothing in the middle, nothing at the bottom. Just one lonely slice. For $21? That’s wild. For that price, I would have been much better off going to Katz and getting something actually worth the money. To be fair, their bagels are actually really good. The texture is right, and the cream cheese is solid. I’ve never had an issue with that. But this pastrami sandwich was completely not worth it. I won’t be ordering it again. I’ll stick to the bagels and cream cheese from now on.

We really enjoyed our bagel sandwiches here and they have delicious coffee! We had quick and friendly service as well. We went twice on our trip. On Sunday morning there were no seats left so we ate outside. On Tuesday mid-morning it was super quiet and we had no issue finding an open table.

Great spot for good bagels. I found the flavors to be very good and texture of the bagel was solid. I got The Mess and my partner got a bacon egg and cheese, with hot sauce. Both had good flavors and were pretty fast even though there was a decent line! We were able to find a seat though there is not a ton available. Staff were nice and efficient.

Food: 4.5/5 Service: 4.4/5 Value: 4.6/5 Went at around 9:30 on a Friday and there was about a 10 line wait to place the order and get the food so it was pretty efficient. Inside is a bit chaotic but the system works so no complaints. There isn’t a lot of space to sit down but it is possible. We ended up taking it’s to go We got the jalapeño bagel with scallion chipotle cream cheese spread and it was delicious. A nice thick layer of cream cheese and two different hints of spiciness really tingled the lips in a cold New York morning. A great place to stop and grab a quick bite to eat!
