Whether you are a long-time local or a commuter passing through this transit-rich area, the bakery offers a glimpse into the traditional baking practices that define the Colombian-American experience in New York.
La Dulce Bakery is characterized by its unpretentious, down-to-earth atmosphere. It is the kind of neighborhood spot where the staff often greets regulars with a smile, maintaining a level of warmth that can be hard to find in the hustle of the city. Over the years, it has earned a reputation for consistency in its recipes, with returning customers noting that the flavors they loved nearly a decade ago remain unchanged today. This commitment to traditional taste makes it a reliable destination for those seeking a specific, nostalgic comfort through food.
Location and Accessibility

What is worth choosing
When it comes to selecting the best that La Dulce Bakery has to offer, the conversation almost always begins and ends with their buñuelos. These golden, savory-sweet cheese fritters are a cornerstone of Colombian baking, and local patrons frequently herald them as the best in the area. A perfect buñuelo should have a thin, crispy exterior with a soft, airy, and slightly chewy interior, and La Dulce has mastered this balance over the years. They are particularly popular when served warm, making them an ideal companion to a cup of hot Colombian coffee during a chilly New York morning.
In addition to the buñuelos, the bakery's breakfast offerings are a solid choice for those who want a traditional meal. The consistency of the taste is a major selling point here; many customers who have moved away from Woodside find themselves returning years later specifically to rediscover the flavors they remember. It is important for potential visitors to note that while the bakery is a beloved local gem, it operates as a high-volume neighborhood spot. As with any long-running local business, customer experiences can vary, and some patrons have occasionally raised concerns regarding the maintenance of the facilities. However, for the majority of the community, the draw of authentic, delicious, and affordable Colombian staples keeps them coming back day after day. If you are looking for a true taste of the neighborhood and want to support a business that has stood the test of time on Roosevelt Avenue, picking up a bag of fresh bread and a few buñuelos is the way to go.
For anyone in the Woodside area looking for an authentic piece of Colombian culture, La Dulce Bakery remains a significant point of interest. Its location under the elevated train tracks captures the quintessential Queens experience, blending the industrial rhythm of the city with the warm, inviting tastes of South America. It is a place where the community gathers, stories are shared over coffee, and the simple joy of a well-made pastry provides a momentary respite from the busy New York streets.

Always welcoming with a smile, warm and friendly. Six years ago, I used to live in this area, and back then, I fell in love with this down-to-earth restaurant. It's a pity I moved away afterwards. I'm very happy that six years later, they're still here. And the taste is still as delicious as ever. Their buñuelos are the best.

Today is the last day I buy bread here. I found hair inside and did see a roach inside the counter couple of weeks ago. I called them to complain and their answer was "OK Señor". They never apologize or something. It is disgusting 😒. I used to buy breakfast here almost everyday. See picture!

I came in today and bought 4 different products. I took one bite out of each of the things i had bought and just threw away the rest. Completely disgusting, they should be embarrassed to have our flag with all that disgusting tasting food. I bought two juices those were good tho.

It was a very hot and humid day when I seen their cholados sign. I don't know anything about their bakery department, but don't ever ask for the Cholado. I was looking forward to it since I haven't had one in a while. First the price was $11.50. Next it all mostly one block of ice. They did not crush the ice, they didn't use condensed milk, They didn't even add the main ingredients of banana & strawberry. They used a little shredded coconut, green melon, cantaloupe & green grapes. I don't understand how they just left out the bananas & strawberries. Only reason I didn't throw out was because of the strong humidity this day. I will not be going back for another.
