La Baker Introduce
In the culturally rich neighborhood of Jackson Heights, Queens, where the streets are a living map of global flavors, La Baker has emerged as a refined destination for those seeking high-quality European baking. Located on the bustling Broadway corridor, this boutique bakery brings a touch of continental elegance to the local community. By blending traditional Spanish and French recipes with modern culinary techniques, La Baker offers a unique selection of sweet and savory items that stand out in the competitive New York City bakery scene. Its commitment to quality and inclusivity—notably being 100% halal—makes it a welcoming hub for the diverse population of Jackson Heights and beyond.
The aesthetic of La Baker is as carefully crafted as its pastries. Stepping inside, visitors are greeted by a very neat and clean interior, where colorful tarts and meticulously decorated cakes are presented with artistic flair. Unlike traditional neighborhood bakeries that might rely solely on volume, La Baker leans into the "boutique" experience, focusing on the visual appeal and ingredient integrity of every item. For the discerning New Yorker, the inclusion of ingredient descriptions on display tags is a thoughtful touch that aids in navigating their extensive menu of mousses, cheesecakes, and artisanal breads.
Location and Accessibility
La Baker is strategically located at 72-08 Broadway, Jackson Heights, NY 11372, USA. This location is a prime example of the transit-oriented convenience that defines life in Queens. It is situated just steps away from the 74th Street-Broadway/Roosevelt Avenue transit hub, one of the busiest and most vital intersections in the borough. This hub provides access to the 7, E, F, M, and R subway lines, making the bakery an easy stop for commuters traveling between Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Eastern Queens. Furthermore, several major bus routes converge in this area, ensuring that the shop is accessible to those living deeper in the neighborhood.
For those navigating the city on foot, the bakery is nestled in a highly walkable section of Broadway, surrounded by a mix of long-standing local businesses and newer establishments. Its proximity to Roosevelt Avenue and the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (BQE) also makes it reachable for those traveling by car, though like much of Jackson Heights, street parking requires a bit of patience. The shop’s street-level entrance and prominent glass frontage make it a visible landmark for anyone running errands or looking for a pleasant "bite between tasks" in the heart of 11372.

What is worth choosing
When visiting La Baker, the selection can be delightfully overwhelming, but a few standout items are essential for the full experience. The Biskoff Cheesecake is a highly recommended choice for those who enjoy a dessert that is creamy and flavorful without being overly dense or cloying. For fans of classic fruit flavors, the Raspberry Tart and various fruit-inspired mousses—like the Mango Lassi or the Apple Mousse—showcase the kitchen's ability to balance sweetness with bright, tropical acidity. These items are perfect for those who appreciate a dessert that looks as good as it tastes.
On the savory side, the Turkey Roll is a hidden gem of the menu. Described by locals as buttery and cheesy with a perfect "umami" profile, it makes for a satisfying afternoon snack or light lunch. If you are looking for something to share with the family, their larger gourmet cakes, such as the Dulce de Leche or the decadent Rocher Mousse cake, are excellent centerpieces for any celebration. For a morning routine, the Almond Croissant or the unique Kunafa and Chocolate Croissant pair exceptionally well with a warm latte. Whether you are grabbing a quick chocolate croissant between errands or sitting down for a moment of pause in your busy day, La Baker offers a level of quality and craftsmanship that makes every visit a pleasant culinary occasion.

Very nice selection of pastries presented, very neat and clean interior. I ordered the biskoff cheesecake, I was considering the raspberry tart. Each item has a description of the major ingredients which I liked. Would’ve ordered the dulce de leche minus the Carmel if they had it. The cheesecake is tasty, not overly sweet or dense. Would’ve loved for more crunch in the cake crust; otherwise, great product. Not the friendliest service but not rude either. Possibly would return. Paid a little over 9 dollars so I’d say the value for quality/quantity is ok.

Had a pleasant experience getting a bite between errands from here. The lady at the front was cordial and the Turkey roll buttery, cheesy and the right umami for my afternoon. Can’t wait to try their chocolate croissant. Will be back with the family.

The cake was beautiful and the service was good. The cake taste in itself was terrible- very dry and stale, like it had been sitting in that fridge for several days. It was hard and not fresh. I paid $9.52 for a slice of the red velvet, which is on the higher end for a slice of cake. It did not satisfy my dessert craving for the night and I wish I could get a refund.

For lunch, I ordered a few savory pastries for takeaway. Tasted good and fresh will be coming again!

My sister and I went got the kunafa cake it was stale. The cake was hard .. and over priced felt like. The Guyanese girl in the front wasn’t very welcoming she seemed like she didn’t wanna be there.
