Fritzie's Bake Shop Introduce
Nestled in the vibrant heart of Woodside, Queens, along the bustling corridor of Roosevelt Avenue, Fritzie’s Bake Shop stands as a testament to the rich culinary heritage of the Philippines. For many New Yorkers, especially those within the Filipino diaspora, this bakery is far more than a simple storefront; it is a sensory bridge to the islands. Known as a cornerstone of "Little Manila," Fritzie’s has earned a stellar reputation for providing authentic, high-quality Filipino breads and pastries that evoke a deep sense of nostalgia. Whether you are a local resident or a food explorer traversing the 7 train line, the aroma of freshly baked ube and sweet dough serves as an irresistible invitation to step inside and experience true Filipino hospitality.
The shop’s enduring popularity in the NY/NJ area is built on a foundation of tradition and consistency. In a city where food trends come and go, Fritzie’s remains steadfast in its commitment to "down-to-earth" flavors and recipes that have been passed down through generations. The atmosphere is cozy and no-frills, focusing entirely on the quality of the bake and the warmth of the service. It is the kind of neighborhood spot where the staff greets you with a genuine smile, embodying the world-renowned hospitality that the Philippines is famous for. For anyone missing the flavors of home or looking to dive into the world of Asian baking, this bakeshop offers a premier destination in the borough of Queens.
Location and Accessibility
Fritzie’s Bake Shop is ideally located at 69-10 Roosevelt Ave, Woodside, NY 11377, USA. This prime location places it directly in the center of Woodside’s "Little Manila," surrounded by a variety of Filipino restaurants, groceries, and specialty stores. This geographic concentration makes it a convenient stop for a full afternoon of cultural immersion and shopping. For local users, the shop’s presence on Roosevelt Avenue is iconic, situated right under the elevated tracks that define the landscape of this part of Queens.
Accessibility is one of the shop’s greatest strengths. It is exceptionally easy to reach via public transportation, being just a short walk from the 69th Street station on the 7 subway line. Additionally, the Woodside LIRR station and the 61st Street-Woodside subway hub are nearby, making it accessible for those traveling from Long Island or Manhattan. For those navigating the neighborhood on foot, the shop is a natural landmark. While street parking on Roosevelt Avenue can be challenging, the high frequency of subway and bus services ensures that a fresh batch of pandesal is never more than a quick train ride away. Its street-level entrance and visible outdoor offerings, like the traditional taho station, make it an inviting stop for commuters and weekend explorers alike.

What is worth choosing
If it is your first time visiting Fritzie’s Bake Shop, or even if you are a returning regular, the Ube Pandesal is an absolute must-purchase. Unlike many commercial versions that rely solely on food coloring, Fritzie’s version is celebrated for containing visible ube jam and a savory-sweet cheese filling. The bread itself is soft and airy; a pro-tip from local fans is to microwave it for about 10 seconds to experience its peak, melt-in-your-mouth goodness. It is widely considered one of the best ube breads available in the entire NY/NJ region.
Another essential choice is the Taho. This classic Filipino comfort drink consists of warm, silken tofu topped with sweet arnibal (brown sugar syrup) and sago pearls. Often sold by street vendors in the Philippines, Fritzie’s brings this tradition to Woodside, often serving it right at the storefront. It is the perfect "sweet day starter" and a rare find in New York. Additionally, don't miss out on their specialty steamed rice cakes. The 2-in-1 Puto and Kutsinta offers a delightful contrast in textures—the light, fluffy puto on top and the dense, sticky kutsinta below. Pair these with a Shakoy (twisted donut) and a cup of coffee for a quintessential Filipino breakfast experience that will keep you coming back to this Woodside gem.
Would you like me to help you find the best time of day to visit for a fresh batch of Taho?

Probably the best Filipino bakery in NY/NJ area. The breads and pastries makes you miss home. Ube breads are the best! Location: It is located in Roosevelt along all the Filipino stores and restaurants. The taho are outside of the store. Service: she was nice. Filipino hospitality at its best! Food: The breads are delicious, fluffy and still good after few days. UBE PANDESAL: to me this was the best I had unlike online seller this has visible cheese and ube jam inside the bread. Heat it up in the microwave for 10 seconds and devour its goodness. TAHO: how i miss taho in the Philippines, this breakfast drink is all about my country. Those soft tofu top with boba and syrup is just what I want in my life. Lol. Price rating: 5/10, not that bad for Filipino food cravings. Definitely will eat more here and try more of their breads!! Definitely try ube pandesal and taho!!

A sweet day starter in the 🇵🇭 comes in the form of steamed rice cakes 🍚🧁 aka 𝗣𝘂𝘁𝗼 and 𝗞𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗮. These were snacks I would grab and go when time was limited. The street vendors would usually have both on hand, with Kutsinta being the stickier and darker ᶠʳᵒᵐ ᵗʰᵉ ᵇʳᵒʷⁿ ˢᵘᵍᵃʳ of the two. In 𝙻𝚒𝚝𝚝𝚕𝚎 𝙼𝚊𝚗𝚒𝚕𝚊 (𝚆𝚘𝚘𝚍𝚜𝚒𝚍𝚎 𝚀𝚞𝚎𝚎𝚗𝚜), this bakeshop made a 2-in-1 version, giving you a light cake on top (puto) with a chewy base (kutsinta). The secret is the lye water 💧 (sodium hydroxide) that raises the pH levels for a firmer texture in all the right areas (𝑷𝒓𝒆𝒕𝒛𝒆𝒍𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒃𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒍𝒔 𝒂𝒍𝒔𝒐 𝒃𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒇𝒊𝒕 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒔𝒆 𝒑𝑯). Add a shakoy (twisted donut) and some coffee, now that's how to start your day! What is your favorite 🇵🇭 snack?

Good choices and variety you can find here. I had their pork sinigang and dinuguan this time. Less customers for some reason. And it's less noisy even if the TVs are on and showing Philippine TV shows. But come here to check out Filipino foods.

I ordered the Cebu-style Lechon, amazingly, it was super delicious! You can taste the well-seasoned and tenderness of the pork, and the crispiness of the pig's skin ! It’s just the best lechon in NY!
