Somedays Bakery - Flatiron Introduce
Introduction / Overview
The New York City bakery scene is famously competitive, but Somedays Bakery has made a resounding entrance with its Manhattan debut in the Flatiron District. Located on Park Avenue South, this establishment is the brainchild of the creators behind the famous Chip City, but it charts its own path as a premium, pastry-focused destination. Somedays Bakery distinguishes itself through a rigorous commitment to French technique, specifically the art of lamination. Using high-quality New Zealand butter and a meticulous hand-folding process, the bakery produces croissants and danishes that are celebrated for their shattering, golden exteriors and soft, honeycomb interiors.
While many neighborhood spots offer standard fare, Somedays is designed to be a "treat" destination—a place where the pastries are as visually stunning as they are delicious. The aesthetic of the shop reflects the sophistication of the Flatiron area: bright, modern, and inviting. It has quickly become a local favorite for those who appreciate "slow food" craftsmanship in a fast-paced city. From unique flavor infusions like black sesame and tahini to hearty savory options that serve as a full meal, the bakery offers a diverse menu that caters to both the traditionalist and the adventurous foodie.
Location and Accessibility
Somedays Bakery is perfectly situated at 297 Park Ave S, New York, NY 10010, USA. This location puts it in the heart of the Flatiron District, a neighborhood known for its historic architecture and bustling professional energy. For those living or working in the area, the bakery is a convenient stop between Midtown and Union Square. It is nestled in a prime stretch of Park Avenue South that is easily walkable from nearby landmarks like Madison Square Park and the iconic Flatiron Building.
Accessibility via public transportation is excellent, making it a viable destination for users across the five boroughs. The 23rd Street subway station (serving the 6, R, and W lines) is just a short walk away, providing direct access for commuters. Additionally, several major bus routes, including the M1, M2, and M3, run along the adjacent avenues. The storefront itself is street-level and features large windows that offer a glimpse of the daily bakes, while the interior provides a welcoming amount of seating for those who want to dine in and enjoy the bright, airy atmosphere of one of Manhattan's most stylish neighborhoods.

What is worth choosing
If you are visiting Somedays for the first time, the "Pistachio Lattice Pastry" is non-negotiable. Often cited as the highlight of the entire menu, this pastry features a refined lattice-cut croissant dough filled with a rich pistachio frangipane, raspberry jam, and white chocolate ganache. It is a masterclass in texture and balanced sweetness. For those who prefer a savory start to their day, the "Spinach and Ricotta Swirl" is highly recommended; it is a large, satisfying pastry seasoned with herbs and leeks, often finished with a touch of chili flakes or parmesan for a savory punch.
For the cookie lovers of New York, the "Tiramisu Cookie" is a standout choice. This espresso-infused cookie is topped with a smooth mascarpone cream, offering a sweet balance that local reviewers frequently praise for its appearance and flavor profile. Another "must-try" is the "Triple Chocolate Pain Suisse," which is a chocolate lover's delight featuring cross-laminated dough and rich semi-sweet chocolate chips. Regardless of what you choose, keep an eye out for their preorder-only specials like the seasonal babkas or specialty cakes, which often feature indulgent elements like crunchy chocolate shells. Given the bakery's popularity, it is always worth stopping by earlier in the day to ensure you have the full range of flavors to choose from, as their most popular artisanal items tend to sell out quickly.

What a wonderful bakery! I preordered the special valentine's cake and babka. I bought the pistachio lattice pastry as well because it looked so good! The pistachio was the highlight and one of the best pastries I've ever had. The cake was a winner as well, I loved the crunchy chocolate shell. The bake on the babka is why I took off one star. It was a bit burnt in places on top and doughy/raw in the middle. But I'll definitely be back to try more!

The pastries were really good. We got the crab Danish and salmon croissant for savory, and a tiramisu cookie and triple chocolate pain suisse for dessert. My personal favorite was the tiramisu cookie, which was sweetly balanced and had a great combination of texture and appearance.

SO good. I kept seeing this spot and have been meaning to try it, finally did and ended up going twice in one day - once for breakfast and once for dessert! The spinach and ricotta swirl was great and the vanilla bean glaze on the croissants are the perfect addition of sweetness. Also loved the latte & hot chocolate we got. I love that the hours go until 9PM, can enjoy at any time of the day! There’s a good amount of seating if you’re looking to dine in as well.

I bumped into this amazing bakery by chance on my way home from work, and I'm sooooo grateful I did. This is one of those places that are hidden jewels!! Everything, and by everything I literally mean EVERYTHING, is delicious!!! I had a matcha latte with almond milk (the best one I've had in a long time) and one savory and one sweet croissant! The savory was the spinach and ricotta swirl; it's like a cinnamon roll made of croissant dough with a lot of cheese, perfectly crunchy on the outside and creamy and full of flavor on the inside. It was just perfect! And the sweet part was an almond croissant! perfectly balanced, perfect texture, with a bunch of toasted almonds on top, not too sweet, like a massage to your palate, everything was perfect!! I'm very happy to have discovered this place in NYC! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! (Sorry for the pictures!! It never had a chance; as soon as I opened the box, they were gone!! LOL!!

I bought a chicken cesar salad. It’s just terrible. Tastes like nothing and the croutons is the most sad part since this is supposed to an artisan bakery. I got fooled by other good reviews and the nice appearance of the store on 23rd and Park Av. They really should improve the quality.
