In the heart of the creative and ever-evolving neighborhood of Bushwick, Brooklyn, Takahachi S.A. stands as a sophisticated destination for lovers of fine Japanese-style baking. For New Yorkers, the city's bakery scene is a competitive landscape of sourdough and croissants, yet this establishment carves out a unique niche by blending traditional French patisserie techniques with the delicate, nuanced flavors of Japan. Located at 29 Wyckoff Avenue, it has become a sanctuary for those who appreciate craftsmanship, aesthetics, and a "not overly sweet" approach to desserts. Whether you are a local resident or a visitor exploring the vibrant street art of the area, Takahachi S.A. offers an elevated experience that reflects the global culinary diversity that makes Brooklyn so special.

It manages to capture a sense of calm amidst the bustling energy of North Brooklyn, providing a space where the visual presentation of the food is just as important as the taste. In a city where everything moves at lightning speed, this bakery invites you to slow down and admire the precision of a perfectly piped matcha cream or the glossy finish of a fruit pudding. It is a place where the staff's politeness and the clean, modern aesthetic create a professional environment that feels welcoming to families, professionals, and the neighborhood's artistic community alike. For anyone in the New York region seeking a refined alternative to the standard sugary fare, this Japanese-inspired gem is a factual highlight of the 11237 zip code.

What is Worth Choosing
When visiting Takahachi S.A., there are several items that have earned a reputation as "must-tries" among the local Brooklyn community. The matcha cream roll is perhaps the most iconic choice; it is celebrated for its light texture and the deep, authentic flavor of the green tea, which is balanced perfectly by the delicate cream. Similarly, the red bean desserts are a factual representation of traditional Japanese confectionery, offering a subtle sweetness that highlights the craftsmanship of the bakers. These items are popular and can sell out quickly, so arriving earlier in the day is often recommended for the best selection.
For those seeking something fruity and refreshing, the mango pudding is a standout choice. Local users describe it as "delicious, creamy, lusciousness"—a perfect treat for a warm New York afternoon. Pairing it with a mango specialty drink provides a refreshing, palate-cleansing experience, especially if you have just enjoyed a spicy meal from a nearby food truck. Takahachi Bakery has a cozy and elegant vibe with beautifully made Japanese-style pastries. The matcha cream roll and red bean desserts were light, balanced, and not overly sweet — you can really taste the craftsmanship. Everything looks picture-perfect, and the staff are kind and polite. Prices are a little high and some popular items sell out quickly, but the overall quality makes it worth a visit. A lovely spot for anyone who enjoys delicate, well-made pastries

Mango pudding? Yes, mango pudding. Delicious, creamy, lusciousness. Also tried a mango specialty drink, refreshing, palate cleansing. Had just smashed half a chorizo burrito from Derrick2 food truck(it was amazing), and needed a good palate sweeper to clear the hot sauce before trying the pudding. We also split a ham and onion pastry, not sure what it was called. Thin sliced high quality ham, caramelized onion on a flaky pastry, nuff said.

I hate having to leave a negative review, but the last time I was there it left me expecting better. It wouldn’t hurt them to say if they’re busy and that they’d take a little longer to make some orders, but I don’t like being left to wait guessing whether or not my order was lost and feeling like I’m in the wrong for waiting longer than other customers for one thing. I get if I’m not a regular or spend a lot here, I think their service needs to be better, because their food is good. Their attentiveness needs some improvement, and I don’t see myself coming back, despite being the few (or only) Japanese bakeries in the area.

Everything I’ve had here is delicious and I plan on eventually trying everything!!! The sandwich was a favorite. Also the fish pastries are incredible. I love the huge pot of miso soup as well. 🥣

Absolutely incredible bakery, I could tell the moment I stepped inside. Everything on display tastes as incredible as it looks- I tried a beef curry pan and it was one of the finest things I’ve eaten, so I got a bunch to go. The pastries were incredible and I’m excited to try more when I return. The prices are also absolutely a highlight. Definitely merits a trip across the city on its own!
