Calibella Bakery & Piqueteadero Introduce
In the diverse and culturally rich landscape of Brooklyn, New York, Calibella Bakery & Piqueteadero serves as a vibrant culinary bridge to the flavors of Colombia. Located in the bustling Bushwick neighborhood, this establishment is much more than a standard pastry shop; it is a dual-purpose destination that combines the delicate arts of a traditional bakery with the savory, hearty traditions of a piqueteadero. For New Yorkers seeking an authentic escape from the routine, Calibella offers a sensory journey through the streets of Cali and Bogotá right here in the 11237 zip code. The air inside is often filled with the comforting scent of "pan de bono" and freshly brewed coffee, creating an atmosphere that resonates deeply with the local Hispanic community and adventurous foodies alike.
The name itself, Calibella, evokes the beauty of Cali, Colombia, and the business lives up to this heritage by providing a wide array of specialized goods that are hard to find elsewhere in the borough. Whether you are stopping in for a quick morning "tinto" and a piece of sweet bread or looking for a substantial afternoon meal, Calibella Bakery & Piqueteadero provides a friendly and professional environment that prioritizes flavor and tradition. In a city where authenticity is the ultimate currency, this local gem has carved out a dedicated following by focusing on the "simple but delicious" philosophy that defines the best of home-style Colombian cooking. It is a place where the community gathers, stories are shared over shared plates, and the bustling energy of Wyckoff Avenue slows down just enough for a moment of indulgence.
Location and Accessibility
Calibella Bakery & Piqueteadero is strategically located at 164 Wyckoff Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11237, USA. Situated on one of Bushwick’s most prominent thoroughfares, the bakery is exceptionally easy to find and access. For New York residents and commuters, the location is a dream for public transit accessibility. It is positioned just a short walk from the DeKalb Avenue station on the L train, and it is also within close proximity to the Myrtle-Wyckoff Avenues hub, where both the L and M trains intersect. This makes it a perfect pitstop for those traveling between Manhattan and deep Brooklyn or Queens. The high-traffic nature of Wyckoff Avenue ensures that the bakery is always surrounded by the vibrant street life of the neighborhood, including local street art and other unique retail shops.
For those who prefer to travel by bus, the B13, B38, and B52 lines all serve the general vicinity, providing multiple avenues for arrival. While street parking on Wyckoff Avenue can be competitive, as is typical for this part of Brooklyn, the sheer density of public transport options makes it a highly reachable destination for a quick takeaway or a sit-down snack. The storefront is welcoming and easily identifiable, often bustling with locals throughout the day. Visitors should be aware that during the colder months, particularly during the winter of 2026, the indoor temperature can fluctuate. Local users recommend dressing warmly—keeping your hat and gloves handy—to ensure you stay comfortable while enjoying the amazing food during the peak of the New York winter season.

What is worth choosing
When you find yourself at Calibella Bakery & Piqueteadero, the first thing you should explore is their selection of "panes" (breads). Local patrons frequently rave about the simple but delicious nature of these baked goods. The Pan de Bono, a traditional Colombian cheese bread made with cassava starch, is a standout choice. It is perfectly chewy on the inside with a subtle salty-sweet balance that makes it an addictive snack. Another excellent choice is the Buñuelo, a fried dough ball that is crisp on the exterior and soft on the inside, offering a savory cheese flavor that pairs exquisitely with a cup of hot chocolate or coffee.
For those looking for something more substantial from the piqueteadero side of the business, the mixed platters are highly recommended. These often include perfectly seasoned meats and traditional sides that are described by regulars as "amazing." The hearty nature of these dishes makes them a favorite for weekend lunches. It is worth noting that while the food is top-tier, the dining experience during the winter of 2026 has been described as quite cold due to the heating being turned off on certain days. To fully enjoy the rich flavors of their savory offerings, locals advise keeping your hat and gloves on if you plan to eat inside. However, the quality of the food is so high that many find the "freezing" temperatures a minor trade-off for such authentic flavors. If you are in a rush, grabbing a bag of their assorted fresh breads to go is the best way to bring a piece of Colombian warmth into your own home. No matter what you choose, Calibella Bakery & Piqueteadero delivers a factual and flavorful experience that stands out on the Brooklyn map.
Supporting Calibella is a great way to ensure that small, culturally specific businesses continue to thrive in New York City. The combination of friendly staff, amazing food, and a central Bushwick location makes it a must-visit for anyone in the region. Whether you are there for the savory meats or the simple, delicious bread, you are guaranteed a taste of Colombia that is as authentic as it gets. Just remember to check the weather and dress accordingly for the season to make your visit as enjoyable as possible.

I purchased some pastries today for myself which included a cannoli and a guava pastry. However after eating one bite of the cannoli I realized there was a weird taste to it. So I turned on my flashlight to get a good look at the cannoli to find MOLD growing inside of it. I’m furious because I gave this business a second chance after my mom had gotten a serious case of food poisoning from here. I grew up getting food from here all the time and so when I came back to the neighborhood after some time; it’s come to my realization that this business does not care about service nor cleanliness. Please eat at your own risk from here.
