The Bad Bagel

40 Wyckoff Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11237, USA

3.0
This is usually our favorite bagel spot in the neighborhood because of the freshness and consistency, which is why this experience was surprising and disappointing. When we order online, the bagels are normally prepared and packaged the same way they’re served in store. This time, however, the bagel was wrapped separately in foil with the cream cheese on the side, which wasn’t what we expected, especially when ordering for convenience. If I had time to assemble it myself, I wouldn’t have ordered out. Consistency is a big reason we keep coming back, so this felt off compared to our usual experience. I’m not sure if this reflects a change in how orders are now packaged and prepared, but wanted to share as a heads-up for future customers. Sharing this feedback in hopes it helps maintain the quality and service we’ve come to expect! - Kelly Hernandez- Arriaga

What is worth choosing

When it comes to making a selection at The Bad Bagel, the choices can be overwhelming due to the sheer variety available. However, based on consistent feedback from the local community, there are a few items that are considered "must-tries." For those who appreciate a robust, savory flavor, the Whole Wheat Everything bagel is a top-tier choice. It provides the classic "everything" seasoning—garlic, onion, salt, and seeds—but with the added depth of a whole wheat base. Pairing this with their vegan cream cheese options is a game-changer for many. Specifically, the Stockeld vegan cream cheese has garnered a loyal following, with many patrons preferring its creamy texture and flavor over more common brands like Tofutti. It is a sophisticated choice that reflects the shop's attention to quality ingredients.

If you are lucky enough to visit when their specialty items are in stock, the vegan jalapeño cheese bagel is a standout. It offers a perfect blend of heat and savory notes that elevate a standard breakfast sandwich to something more memorable. For those who prioritize the traditional experience, the shop’s standard bagels are known for their consistent freshness. When ordering for immediate consumption, many locals recommend ensuring the bagel is prepared and assembled in-store to fully enjoy the melting cream cheese and warm bread. Whether you are looking for a dairy-free masterpiece or a classic New York staple, the combination of high-quality dough and innovative spreads makes The Bad Bagel a destination worth visiting in the Brooklyn area. Their dedication to maintaining a high standard of neighborhood service ensures that even as the menu evolves, the core experience remains authentically Brooklyn.
