Curley's Bagels Introduce
In the heart of Sunnyside, Queens, a neighborhood known for its diverse culinary landscape and leafy residential streets, Curley’s Bagels has carved out a unique space for itself. As any true New Yorker knows, the local bagel shop is more than just a place to grab breakfast; it is a community hub and a litmus test for the neighborhood’s character. Curley’s Bagels meets this challenge by blending the traditional hustle of a New York deli with a modern, artisanal sensibility. Located on 47th Avenue, this shop has quickly become a standout destination for those who seek a bagel experience that goes beyond the standard "bacon, egg, and cheese."
What distinguishes Curley’s from the myriad of other options in the five boroughs is its commitment to creativity and quality. In a city where many bagel shops rely on volume and speed, Curley’s takes a more curated approach. The shop is often described as a "hipster" bagel spot, a label that reflects its attention to aesthetic, music, and unconventional flavor profiles. However, despite its modern flair, it remains a quintessential neighborhood fixture where the staff is patient and the atmosphere is welcoming. Whether you are a long-time Sunnyside resident or a visitor exploring the vibrant food scene of Western Queens, Curley’s Bagels offers a fresh perspective on the most iconic of New York staples.
Location and Accessibility
Curley’s Bagels is conveniently situated at 43-04 47th Ave, Sunnyside, NY 11104, USA. This location puts it right in the middle of one of Queens' most walkable and accessible neighborhoods. Sunnyside is favored by commuters for its proximity to Manhattan, and Curley’s is perfectly positioned for those looking to fuel up before a day in the city or a weekend stroll through the nearby Sunnyside Gardens. The shop is just a short walk from the 46th St - Bliss St station on the 7 train, making it easily reachable for anyone traveling along the "International Express" line.
Accessibility isn't just about trains, though. For those driving through the area, street parking and metered spots are typically available in the surrounding blocks, allowing for quick pickups. The shop itself features a charming outdoor bench, a highlight for local patrons who enjoy soaking in the neighborhood vibes and fresh air while enjoying their meal. This mix of convenience and "neighborhood feel" makes it a central node for the 11104 community, serving as a reliable morning stop for students, professionals, and families alike.

What is worth choosing
If you are visiting Curley’s Bagels for the first time, there are a few items that are universally recommended by the local community. The Rosemary Salt bagel is perhaps the most famous "unique" offering here; its aromatic profile makes it the perfect base for a simple cream cheese spread or a more complex sandwich. For those who enjoy fish, the pastrami-cured salmon is a standout. It is tender, expertly seasoned, and offers just the right amount of smokiness to complement the chew of a fresh New York bagel. It is a sophisticated choice that reflects the shop's commitment to culinary creativity.
For a classic breakfast, the egg salad on a toasted sesame bagel is a popular and hearty choice, often noted for being well-packed with filling. While the shop caters to modern tastes with dairy alternatives, it is always worth asking for your bagel to be extra toasted if you prefer a hot, crisp exterior, as the shop’s generous fillings can sometimes cool the bread quickly. If you're a coffee drinker, the medium and large options ensure you have enough caffeine to power through your morning, though it is worth checking the daily brew to find your preferred strength. No matter what you choose, the combination of creative flavors and the inviting Sunnyside atmosphere makes Curley’s Bagels a destination that truly stands out in the competitive New York bagel scene.
Ultimately, Curley’s Bagels represents the evolution of the New York bagel shop. By respecting the traditions of fresh baking while embracing new flavor profiles and a modern café vibe, they have created a space that appeals to everyone from the traditionalist to the "foodie." It is a testament to the vibrant, ever-changing spirit of Sunnyside and a worthy stop for anyone in search of a better bagel.

Curly’s Bagels has quickly become one of my favorite breakfast and lunch spots in Sunnyside. They do things a little differently here the sandwich options are really creative and go far beyond your typical deli combinations. You can tell a lot of thought goes into how they pair flavors, from their spreads to the toppings. Everything tastes fresh and balanced, not overly salty or heavy like some other bagel shops. The bagels themselves are made fresh daily and have some really unique flavors that you don’t see everywhere like rosemary salt, which has the perfect mix of savory and aromatic. It’s a nice twist on the classic everything bagel. I tried the pastrami cured salmon and it was excellent tender, flavorful, and just the right amount of smoky. You can tell the quality of the ingredients is high, but the prices are surprisingly affordable for what you get. On top of that, the staff is always friendly and patient, even when it gets busy. They take the time to make sure your order is right and they greet you with a smile. It’s one of those neighborhood spots that feels welcoming every time you go. Highly recommend if you’re in Sunnyside and want a bagel that stands out.

I really like the vibes of this spot: friendly staff, good music, food out quick, and cute bench outside to enjoy the fresh air. However I must say, after having tried this place a good 10 times before leaving a review, it could improve in some areas: - I do agree with some reviewers that the menu seems to be overpriced, but it’s a hipster bagel spot, so I wouldn’t have expected anything cheaper to be fair. - The bagels are well packed with the fillings which I love, but my toasted bagels are never warm??? I want it toasted so I can eat a warm bagel, not a cold hard one - especially in the wintertime. I just dug my bagel out from my bag to find it hadn’t even been properly wrapped in the foil:/ it was cold already (time from receipt of food to eating it in my car was a matter of 45 seconds) - I asked for a decaf coffee (I’ve ordered this here many times) and added some oat milk. It tasted so bad, as if it had been made with dirty water. I immediately got nauseous. I asked the nice gentleman behind the counter to please give me a new one. He did, but not before telling me he tasted the coffee and it was fine. That was reassuring - maybe it was the oat milk I thought to myself. But when I sipped it a few more times in my car, it was just no good. Decaf coffee does not tend to taste exactly like regular coffee, but it doesn’t taste bitter and sour at the same time either the way this one did. I couldn’t drink it. Today I ordered a toasted sesame seed bagel with egg salad and a medium decaf coffee (they don’t carry small cups. Only medium and large). Price was $13.88. Not good, not bad. ** I read some reviewers calling these mini bagels. These are not mini bagels. They’re regular sized bagels.

What an absolute gem in the Sunnyside neighborhood! From the moment you walk in, the delightful aroma of freshly baked bagels envelops you, setting the stage for an incredible experience. The bagels themselves are nothing short of perfection—crispy on the outside and perfectly fluffy inside, with a variety of flavors that are both classic and innovative. Every bite is a taste of quality and freshness! (They offer a bakers dozen if you want to take them home for the fam!) What truly sets Curley’s apart is the friendly and welcoming staff. They’re always ready with a smile and eager to help you choose the perfect bagel or recommend their delicious cream cheese options. The management clearly prioritizes customer satisfaction. Curley’s Bagels is not just a place for amazing bagels and coffee; it’s a fantastic addition to our community! This place is a beloved staple for the area’s residents and visitors alike. If you haven’t had the chance to stop by yet, make it your next destination—you won’t be disappointed! Highly recommended!
