Bagel Pub

The line looked pretty bad, but we ordered within 5 minutes! By the time I paid I had my bagel. I was very impressed with that. To be totally honest my best friend and I went to New York for two days and I just wanted a good bagel. We got off the subway and this is the first bagel shop I saw and honestly it was the best bagel I have ever had. I got the garlic bagel with garlic herb cream cheese. It was perfect! There were so many cream cheese options! The croissants in the case just looked too good so I got one with some of their chicken salad on the side to eat for lunch and let me tell you the best croissant ever! The chicken salad was good, but nothing to write home about. It was so good we went back again the next day and I had their special. It was prosciutto, mozzarella, peppers, balsamic, and fig jam on a hoagie roll, but I got it on a bagel. There was so much meat and it was very good, but I think I enjoyed just my bagel and cram cheese I had the day before more. I also loved that they had Dr. Browns cream soda! - Lisa Quashnock

Bagel Pub Introduce

For any New Yorker, the quest for the perfect bagel is a lifelong pursuit that defines one’s relationship with the city. In the heart of Greenwich Village, Bagel Pub has established itself as a cornerstone of the local breakfast and lunch scene, providing the quintessential New York City experience. Whether you are a lifelong resident or a visitor stepping off the subway for the first time, this establishment offers a masterclass in what makes a local bagel shop truly exceptional. Bagel Pub manages to strike the perfect balance between high-volume efficiency and artisanal quality, ensuring that even during the busiest morning rushes, the integrity of the food remains uncompromised.

The first thing local patrons notice about Bagel Pub is its vibrant, high-energy atmosphere. While the lines can often look daunting—stretching toward the door during peak hours—the operational efficiency is nothing short of impressive. Local users frequently report moving from the back of a long line to placing an order in under five minutes, with their food ready almost immediately after payment. This speed is a vital asset in a city that never sleeps and rarely has time to wait. However, this efficiency does not come at the cost of variety or freshness. The shop is renowned for its expansive display cases that showcase an incredible array of bagels, pastries, and an almost overwhelming selection of house-made cream cheeses.

Beyond the standard bagel fare, Bagel Pub functions as a versatile eatery that caters to families, students from nearby NYU, and professionals alike. The interior is welcoming and serves as a reliable spot to fuel up for a day of exploring the Village. By maintaining high standards for their ingredients and offering a diverse menu that spans from traditional lox and schmear to hearty hamburger platters and specialty sandwiches, they have secured their spot as a top-tier destination in the competitive New York bagel landscape. It is a place where tradition meets modern convenience, providing a factual and reliable culinary anchor for the 6th Avenue corridor.

Location and Accessibility

Bagel Pub is perfectly positioned for maximum accessibility at 418 6th Ave, New York, NY 10011, USA. Features / Highlights

Several distinct features contribute to Bagel Pub's reputation as a standout local business. These highlights reflect why the shop remains a frequent choice for locals:

  • Incredible Variety: The shop is famous for offering approximately three dozen different flavors of cream cheese, ranging from classic plain to inventive herbal and fruit-infused blends.
  • Superior Textures: Their bagels are noted for having the perfect "New York" chew—crusty on the outside and soft on the inside—while their croissants are frequently cited as being among the best in the area.
  • Speed of Service: Despite long lines, the staff is trained to process orders with extreme speed, often having the food ready by the time the customer finishes paying.

What is worth choosing

When visiting Bagel Pub, the sheer number of options can be overwhelming, but certain items have earned a permanent place in the local "must-order" list. The garlic bagel paired with garlic herb cream cheese is a standout choice for those who love bold, savory flavors. The cream cheese is noted for its freshness and rich texture, providing a perfect complement to the pungent, aromatic crust of the garlic bagel. If you are looking for something traditional yet elevated, the sheer variety of their cream cheese bar encourages experimentation—consider splitting a bagel with a friend to try two different schmears.

For those visiting during the lunch hour, the "Hamburger Deluxe" served with crispy waffle fries is a surprisingly high-quality option for a bagel-centric shop. However, if you want a sandwich that bridges the gap between a deli and a bakery, their croissants are highly recommended. Large, buttery, and incredibly flaky, they serve as an excellent vessel for their fresh chicken salad. Another popular choice is their specialty sandwich featuring prosciutto, mozzarella, peppers, balsamic, and fig jam. While traditionally served on a hoagie roll, local regulars know that ordering this combination on a fresh bagel adds a unique New York twist that balances the sweetness of the fig jam with the salty bite of the prosciutto. Finally, no visit is complete without a treat from the bakery case—the apple turnovers and chocolate chip cookies are perfect for satisfying a sweet tooth after a savory meal.
