Apollo Bagels Introduce
Introduction / Overview
In a city that treats breakfast like a competitive sport, Apollo Bagels has quickly carved out a reputation as a premier destination for those seeking a modern twist on a classic New York staple. Located in the picturesque West Village/Greenwich Village area, this shop has become a local sensation by perfecting the art of the sourdough bagel. Unlike the traditional dense, malty rounds found elsewhere, Apollo Bagels specializes in a product that emphasizes a distinct fermentation process, resulting in a flavor profile that is both complex and deeply satisfying. For New Yorkers who take their morning routine seriously, this establishment represents the intersection of artisanal baking and the fast-paced energy of Manhattan life.
The shop is celebrated for its commitment to high-quality ingredients and a specific texture that sets it apart from the competition. Locals frequently rave about the "legs" of these bagels—meaning they possess enough flavor and structural integrity to be enjoyed even without a heavy layer of cream cheese. However, when you do add their premium schmears and incredibly fresh toppings, the experience elevated to a new level. Whether you are a long-time resident of the Village or just passing through, Apollo Bagels offers a refreshing take on the "best bagel" conversation, proving that there is always room for innovation in the New York culinary scene.
Location and Accessibility
Apollo Bagels is situated at 73 Greenwich Ave, New York, NY 10014, making it a cornerstone of the vibrant Greenwich Village neighborhood. This location is one of the most walkable and scenic areas in Manhattan, surrounded by historic brownstones and trendy boutiques. For local residents, it is a convenient stop during a morning commute or a weekend stroll. Its proximity to several major subway lines—including the 1, 2, and 3 trains at 14th Street and the A, C, E, B, D, F, and M lines at West 4th Street—ensures that it is easily accessible from almost anywhere in the city.
The shop itself fits perfectly into the aesthetic of Greenwich Avenue. While the interior can become quite lively and crowded during peak hours, the efficiency of the service ensures that the flow of customers remains steady. For those looking to enjoy their meal outdoors, the surrounding neighborhood offers plenty of classic New York benches and small plazas where you can sit and appreciate the atmosphere of the West Village. The accessibility of the storefront makes it a prime choice for a quick grab-and-go breakfast before heading to work or taking a walk toward nearby Washington Square Park.

What is worth choosing
Deciding what to order at Apollo Bagels can be a difficult task given the quality of their menu, but there are a few standout items that are widely considered "must-tries" by the local community. First and foremost, any sandwich featuring their lox is highly recommended. The fish is consistently described as super fresh and pairs beautifully with their tangy sourdough base. For those who appreciate the smaller details, ensure your order includes their tomatoes; they are frequently cited as a highlight for their quality and flavor, which can often be an afterthought at lesser establishments.
If you prefer to keep things simple to truly appreciate the craftsmanship of the bagel, a sourdough bagel with high-quality cream cheese is the way to go. This allows you to experience the contrast between the crispy outer shell and the soft, airy interior. To round out your meal, the fresh-squeezed orange juice is an essential addition. It offers a bright, citrusy balance to the rich cream cheese and salty lox. Whether you are looking for a classic lox and schmear or a simple toasted bagel to eat on the go, the attention to detail at Apollo Bagels ensures that every choice is a winning one. It is an elevated New York bagel experience that manages to be both trendy and timeless.

Truly delicious bagels! •I love their crispy, but soft sourdough bagels! Goes perfectly well with the creamcheese, and toppings! •The lox was super fresh. I also loved the tomatoes! •Staff were quick to attend and serve orders. There were no long lines when I visited. It was early morning and post snowstorm. •A must-try. One of the best! 🥯

Some of the best bagels I've had in Manhattan so far. Love the crispy exterior in particular. The mark of a great bagel is whether it has legs beyond the schmear. This passes the test. Love that they also have fresh-squeezed OJ as well. Their service is relatively quick as well, though it gets crowded inside. Must-try!

Fresh smoked salmon paired beautifully with the bright pop of capers and dill. Beautifully orchestrated on a fresh sesame bagel for a crisp yet chewy bite. Simple but elegant, and incredibly satisfying even though I was already full. No wonder there is a long line, but it is definitely worth waiting for.

First time trying a lox bagel and it was amazing. They just sold out of everything bagels, but we got a sesame bagel and it was still great. Lots going on between the cream cheese, salmon, onions, the dill, and everything in between so I was a little nervous, but it was a perfect pairing. Not crazy expensive either which was nice. Would definitely go back.

We weren’t sure if we should go or not, but honestly… oh my God 🤯 it was one of the best bagels I’ve ever had. Everything tasted so fresh, the ingredients were top quality, and the flavor was incredible. You can really tell the care that goes into each bagel. I would come back again and again without a doubt. A must-try 🥯✨
