Fay Da Bakery Introduce
Introduction / Overview
In the vibrant culinary landscape of New York City, Fay Da Bakery stands as a premier destination for those seeking the authentic flavors of traditional Chinese baking. Located in the bustling heart of Manhattan's West Village, this bakery has built a loyal following among local New Yorkers and visitors alike. Founded with a vision to blend time-honored Asian baking techniques with a modern flair, Fay Da offers a unique sensory experience where the aroma of freshly baked buns and sweet egg tarts fills the air from the early morning hours. Whether you are looking for a quick breakfast on your way to work or a beautifully crafted centerpiece for a milestone celebration, this establishment provides a high-quality, reliable, and culturally rich alternative to the standard city bakery.
The atmosphere at the 6th Avenue location is efficient and welcoming, reflecting the fast-paced nature of the neighborhood while maintaining the warmth of a community-focused shop. It is a place where "fresh and delicious" is the baseline, and the diversity of the menu ensures there is something for every palate. From the soft, airy textures of their signature sponge cakes to the savory depth of their stuffed steamed buns, Fay Da Bakery bridges the gap between traditional heritage and the diverse tastes of contemporary Manhattanites.
Location and Accessibility
Fay Da Bakery is strategically situated at 321 6th Ave, New York, NY 10014, making it one of the most accessible spots for residents of the West Village, Greenwich Village, and Chelsea. What is worth choosing
When you step into Fay Da Bakery, the sheer variety can be overwhelming, but there are several standout items that have become legendary among the local community. If you are a first-time visitor, the Steamed Buns are an absolute must-try. Whether you prefer the savory richness of the Roast Pork Bun or the sweet, creamy interior of the Custard Bun, the dough is consistently soft, pillowy, and fresh. For a lighter snack, their Egg Tarts feature a flaky, buttery crust and a silky-smooth custard center that captures the essence of Hong Kong-style baking.
For those planning a celebration, the Fresh Fruit Cake is the quintessential choice. Unlike heavy American-style buttercream cakes, Fay Da’s cakes are prized for their light, airy vanilla or chocolate sponge and whipped cream frosting that isn't cloyingly sweet. With fresh fruit layers tucked inside, it is a refreshing and sophisticated dessert that appeals to all ages. Starting at approximately $39 for a standard size, with an additional $10 for custom designs, it offers some of the best value for a high-quality birthday cake in Manhattan. Finally, don't forget to pair your pastry with a Milk Tea—whether you like it hot or iced, it provides the perfect creamy balance to the bakery's artisanal treats. Whether you are grabbing a quick $3 snack or a $50 custom masterpiece, Fay Da Bakery delivers a taste of authentic Chinese tradition that is perfectly at home in the West Village.

Great place to grab Chinese pastries from! We also ordered a birthday cake and it was wonderful 🙌 The cake’s not too sweet and there’s fresh fruit in between. Usually $39 per cake but you can add custom design for $10 more.

Always fresh and delicious food! I love the steamed buns both savory and sweet ones and all the baked goods! Nice selection of bottled and made-to-order hot and cold drinks, too. Nice staff!

Very nice bakery, with a lot of choice. I saw it in “buzz feed worth it” and wanted to try ever since and baked goods were nice, not a daily thing but to taste once it did well for me.

Have been coming here for a few years. Quality is great. Girl at register was very rude (unfortunately). There was a broken blossom bun in steamer I took and asked for discount (chunk of it was on steamer rack). She snapped ‘we don’t do that’ so I told her I wouldn’t take it.. she chats w her college (who has collected up the broken piece) and the said to me ‘it’s meant to look like that…’ and I told her it’s not true and that I had seen even her colleague fish out the busted piece’. She just blanked. No apology. And then to lie about an obvious broken blossom bun like I don’t know what they look like? I grew up on yum cha / dim sum… And I speak Mandarin. 😎 So.. moral of the story is. Enjoy the Bao but don’t expect manners or respect.

Staff moves with efficiency and very nice, everything I had was delish and the price is great for bakery items, I hope it never changes 🥹. I really wanted to go back in for more. Next time!💘 There is a $10 minimum for cards. Cash is better if you don't want too much but you can get a satisfying snack or meal for that minimum. The chicken bun I had was 👍👍👍 coffee milk tea was warming and you can adjust Sweetness.. I wanna try the Harlick and tofu flower drink as well as the soy milk.
