Gury's Market Introduce
In the vibrant and ever-moving neighborhood of Jackson Heights, Queens, where the energy of the city is fueled by international flavors and around-the-clock activity, Gury's Market stands as a significant local landmark. Situated on the famous Roosevelt Avenue corridor, this establishment operates as a versatile hybrid of a traditional Colombian bakery and a casual restaurant. For New Yorkers living in or passing through the 11372 area, Gury's provides a sprawling, communal space that caters to the diverse needs of the local Latino community and curious food explorers alike. Whether you are looking for a quick caffeine fix before a commute or a sit-down meal featuring the hearty flavors of Colombia, this market offers a distinctively spacious environment that is rare for the densely packed streets of Queens.
Gury's Market is characterized by its commitment to traditional Colombian products, serving as a hub for those seeking a taste of South America in the heart of New York. The atmosphere inside is often described as warm and inviting, providing a stark contrast to the industrial hum of the elevated 7 train just outside its doors. In a city where "hole-in-the-wall" establishments are the norm, the generous square footage of Gury's Market allows for relaxed conversations and a comfortable dining experience. It has become a neighborhood staple for its combination of affordable pricing and consistent availability, making it a reliable destination at almost any hour of the day or night.
Location and Accessibility
Conveniently located at 74-19 Roosevelt Ave, Jackson Heights, NY 11372, USA, Gury's Market occupies a prime piece of real estate in one of the city's most transit-rich zones. For local users and commuters, accessibility is one of the establishment's greatest assets. It is situated just a short walk from the 74th St-Broadway/Roosevelt Ave station, a massive transit hub where the 7, E, F, M, and R subway lines converge. This proximity makes it an effortless stop for anyone traveling from Manhattan, Long Island City, or deeper into Queens. Additionally, the Victor A. Moore Bus Terminal is nearby, providing connections to numerous local bus routes that serve the wider Jackson Heights and Woodside areas.
The bakery's position on Roosevelt Avenue means it is part of a high-traffic pedestrian corridor that never truly sleeps. While street parking in this section of Jackson Heights is notoriously difficult—as is common throughout the borough—the sheer density of public transportation options ensures that reaching Gury's Market is simple for anyone in the five boroughs. The storefront is street-level and easily visible, inviting passersby to step away from the bustle of the sidewalk and into its clean, well-maintained interior. Its location makes it a perfect meeting spot for locals or a quick "grab-and-go" station for those catching the next train.

What is worth choosing
When visiting Gury's Market, the savory items are often the stars of the show. For many regulars, the Colombian tamales are a top choice, particularly during the lunch hour when they are fresh and plentiful. These are hearty, flavorful, and provide a true taste of Colombian home-cooking. Additionally, the empanadas are a frequent favorite for those looking for a quick and satisfying snack. They offer a crispy exterior and well-seasoned fillings that capture the essence of traditional street food found in South America.
On the bakery side, the selection of breads and sweet treats is extensive. While customer experiences with specialty items like almond croissants can vary—with some noting a lighter touch on the paste filling than traditional French versions—they remain a popular choice for those wanting a sweet accompaniment to their coffee. If you are a fan of traditional textures, the various regional breads are worth choosing for their freshness and value. However, as with any high-volume neighborhood spot, New Yorkers are encouraged to be mindful of their orders; while many have pleasant experiences, some patrons have occasionally noted inconsistencies in product quality or service. To get the best out of Gury's, aim for the peak morning or lunch hours when the turnover of baked goods is at its highest. Whether you are there for a full meal or just a quiet place to sit with a pastry, the sheer scale and variety of Gury's Market make it a unique stop on the Roosevelt Avenue map.

I am giving it a 1 star because everything was horrible. Both breads I bought were burn and the chocolate was super water down. I don't recommend it to anyone. Avoid at all cost. There is other bakeries around the area better than this. They also didn't give me my change back.

Spacious Bakery and restaurant, specializing in Colombian products. The service is good. The place is spacious and very clean. I got some Almond Croissants to go. They taste was good but it was basically a Croissant with Almonds on it and nothing in the way of Almond Paste Filling. It might have had either some Almond Extract in the middle or an extremely thin layer of Almond Paste. Whatever it was it certainly wasn't an Almond Croissant the way most of us know one. The Almond Croissants I've eaten are full of Almond Paste in the middle. The prices are good and their other offerings looked like they might have potential.

I had an extremely disappointing experience at this bakery. As a professional barista with over five years of experience, I know the difference between a cappuccino and a latte, yet the employee here clearly did not. When I tried to clarify my order, they were rude and dismissive. The coffee itself was awful—burnt milk, poor extraction, and an overall lack of care in preparation. To make things worse, the milk was clearly reheated, which is completely unacceptable. If you care about good coffee and decent service, I’d suggest going elsewhere.

Excellent cafe for coffee and sweets. I had the salted caramel iced coffee and it was delicious. The cakes and other assorted sweets are fresh and delicious as well. The cheesecakes are some of the best you will find anywhere in Jackson Heights. Kind, patient and friendly service from the staff. Restaurant is spotless clean. Highly recommended!

I have been going to this place for a while now. Some things are good, but you have to be careful with the protein. I bought the chicken meal once as a take out and the chicken was red inside, so I had to finish cooking it. Today I ordered the salmon and it wasn’t cooked all the way. When I told them, they kept arguing that it was cooked. I eat salmon often, I know when it is not cooked. They didn’t even offer me another option or a new piece, which is what other restaurants would’ve done. Needless to say, I will not be going back ever.
