This was my first visit to Huascar’s. The decor was cute and the bakery case was well stocked, clean, and everything looked delicious. The shop is TINY but full of personality. I ordered a classic flan and the banana pudding with salted caramel. Took off one star because both desserts were a little too sweet for my taste. Aside from that, quite delicious! - Erika D

What is worth choosing

When visiting Huascar & Co. Bakeshop, the sheer variety of the display case can be overwhelming, but several items have become legendary among the Hell’s Kitchen community. If you are looking for the definitive experience, the cupcakes are an absolute must-try. Given the chef's history with "Cupcake Wars," these aren't your average treats; they feature complex fillings, light but rich frostings, and a moist crumb that justifies the accolades. The flavors often rotate, but the attention to detail remains constant.

For those who prefer something creamy, the classic flan is a standout choice. It reflects a high level of technical skill, offering a smooth, silky texture that isn't overly dense. Another local favorite is the banana pudding, specifically the version enhanced with salted caramel. This dish provides a wonderful contrast of textures and a sophisticated balance between the sweetness of the banana and the savory notes of the caramel. It is a hearty, comforting dessert that has garnered high praise from those looking for a modern take on a nostalgic classic.

If you find yourself passing by on a chilly New York afternoon, do not overlook their beverage menu. The hot chocolate is frequently cited by regulars as a highlight—rich, creamy, and prepared with a level of care that matches the pastries. Pair it with one of their oversized cookies for the ultimate "winter walk" snack. For residents and visitors who appreciate desserts that lean into deep, indulgent sweetness, this bakeshop provides a decadent experience that is well worth the visit. Whether it’s a quick cookie on the go or a carefully planned custom cake, choosing Huascar & Co. means choosing a piece of New York’s artisanal baking excellence.

Ultimately, what makes this bakery worth choosing is the combination of professional expertise and local charm. In a city that can sometimes feel anonymous, Huascar & Co. Bakeshop maintains a personal touch. The "tiny" footprint of the shop ensures that every customer receives attention, and every pastry in the well-stocked case is presented with pride. It is a destination where the quality of the product matches the creativity of the presentation, making it a staple of the West 54th Street community and a top recommendation for anyone with a serious sweet tooth in Manhattan.
