The interior is designed to be clean and comfortable, providing a perfect backdrop for the colorful and meticulously decorated pastries that line the counter.

What is worth choosing
When visiting Kora, the most difficult task is often deciding which item to leave behind. However, there are several standout choices that have earned a reputation among the local community. The Ube Donut is widely considered the crown jewel of the menu. It features a deep, fragrant purple yam flavor that is both rich and authentic, perfectly complementing the dense, buttery texture of the brioche. For those who enjoy a bit of acidity to cut through the sweetness, the Cranberry Guava Donut is a stellar choice. It is known for its generous filling and a sophisticated sweet-tart balance that highlights the tropical notes of the guava.
On the beverage side, the Pandan Matcha Latte is a must-try for fans of earthy, aromatic drinks. It offers a well-balanced flavor profile that integrates the grassy notes of high-quality matcha with the unique, vanilla-like aroma of pandan. If you prefer something more traditional, the regular drip coffee is highly rated for its solid, dependable flavor, making it a great companion to any of the sweeter pastries. Because the menu changes with the seasons, it is always worth asking the staff about the latest creative holiday pastry. No matter what you choose, the craftsmanship is evident in every bite, making Kora a standout destination in the New York bakery scene.
The experience of visiting Kora is defined by the intersection of high-end culinary skill and genuine community warmth. It is the kind of place where the owners take pride in their work, and the staff treats every customer with a high level of care. For residents of Sunnyside, it has become a "dangerous" local treasure—so good that it is hard to stay away. For the rest of New York, it represents a perfect example of how traditional cultural flavors can be reimagined through the lens of modern pastry art. Whether you are stopping in for a quick morning coffee or treating yourself to a box of the city's most talked-about donuts, Kora delivers a consistently excellent and memorable experience.

We visited Kora recently and had a nice experience overall. The regular drip coffee was decent and had a solid coffee flavor. We also tried their signature pandan matcha latte — it tasted good and was well balanced, but the flavor was very similar to other pandan matcha lattes we’ve had at other shops, so it didn’t feel especially unique to us. We ordered the ube donut and the cranberry guava donut. The ube had a rich, fragrant flavor that we really enjoyed — that one was our favorite. The cranberry guava donut was also very good, with a generous amount of filling and a nice sweet-tart balance. Their donuts are made from fried brioche, so the texture is more like fried bread. We usually prefer something softer and more fluffy, but we can still appreciate the concept and craftsmanship. The shop itself is very clean, bright, and comfortable. The desserts are beautifully made and feel refined. We would still come back if we’re in the area.

I wish Kora wasn’t as good as it was, because living 2 blocks away is honestly dangerous. Every single pastry is delicious and they are constantly coming out with new, creative pastries for holidays and the change of seasons. Not only are the flavors incredible, the pastries themselves are expertly made. To top it all off the owners are so kind and friendly and every member of their staff is always so nice and ready to give recommendations when you just can’t choose. I’d eat there every meal if I wouldn’t end up on a TLC show.

On my NYC bakery crawl, this was my 6th and final stop! My second visit to the lovely Kora. I was so excited to grab some pastries and share with friends this time as we flew up for some shows (but mainly to eat, lets be serious here). Kora is just an absolute delight. A bright space with large windows in the front as well as windows to their kitchen, it feels warm and welcoming. They have perfected blending art with flavor and we all get to be the recipients of that. Filipino-inspired, I love these flavors. Being in Nashville, we unfortunately don't have a bakery like this so Kora is a must when I'm in NYC and can make it to Sunnyside. The staff is kind and patient and let's you take your time to choose your pastries. And they are all so beautiful and delicious looking, you will probably need a few moments! It never hurts to look at their instagram to do a little pre-investigation. On this trip, I chose 6 pastries as well as some of their ube and coconut cookies (which are delicious). For pastries I got: cranberry, guava & white chocolate brioche; manila cream fried brioche; ube babka swirl; ube brioche; ensaymada croissant; and salted egg brioche. My recommendation to you? Try everything. You won't be sorry.

If it's your first time trying Kora, I suggest the ube doughnut and the ensaymada croissant. You really taste the ube and it has alot of filling and the croissant is so flaky! Those are my favorites. Put the croissant in the airfryer for 2 minutes to heat it up if you have leftovers. Be careful heating up doughnuts with cream fillings in the microwave since it will melt so I suggest 5-8 seconds depending on how strong your microwave is. I find the leche flan doughnut too sweet because of the filling but some people get that also. Skip the drinks; its not worth it. I didn't taste the ube in the ube latte, hojicha (smoky mountain drink) and pandan and matcha flavors in the pandan and matcha latte. On a weekend, I waited 30 minutes to get in. I suggest to go early especially since they close at 4 p.m. For cookies, I love the auro chocolate chunk cookie. The winter limited edition: Manila cream was good. I also like the spam pimento pain suisse. The desserts mentioned are not too sweet which is good especially when sharing to try different flavors. I suggest doing takeout since its hard to get a table. The furniture is stylish and the store is clean. The staff are friendly as well.

If you’re planning a visit to Kora, take my advice: get there early. I arrived around 9:00 AM, and it was the perfect strategy. At that hour, the pastry case is fully stocked with the best selection before the midday rush thins things out. Manila Cream & Pomegranate Cheesecake Danish: This was a standout. The balance between the rich, velvety cream and the bright, tart pop of the pomegranate was incredible. Smokey Mountain Hot Drink: Truly lives up to its name. It has a distinct smokey profile paired with a deep, nutty finish—warm, comforting, and unique. The ambiance is what really ties it all together. The space has a wonderful, welcoming energy that makes you want to linger. I loved the vibe so much that I’m already planning my next visit—I’ll definitely be bringing a book to settle in for a while.
