Las Americas Bakery Introduce
Introduction / Overview
For those living in the vibrant, multicultural landscape of Queens, New York, finding a local spot that captures the true essence of Latin American baking is a top priority. Las Americas Bakery, a long-standing establishment located in the heart of the Elmhurst and Flushing border area, serves as a vital culinary link to the traditional flavors of Colombia and South America. This neighborhood bakery has become a staple for local residents who seek authentic, comfort-driven baked goods that remind them of home. Known for its unassuming storefront and the rich, sweet aromas that waft onto 82nd Street, Las Americas Bakery offers a straightforward, no-frills experience that focuses heavily on traditional recipes and fast, reliable service.
In a city as fast-paced as New York, Las Americas Bakery stands out by providing a welcoming atmosphere where the staff is consistently noted for their friendliness and attentiveness. While the decor remains functional and characteristic of a classic neighborhood "panaderia," the quality of the specialty items speaks for itself. It is a place where commuters, families, and dessert enthusiasts converge to enjoy everything from savory cheese breads to some of the most decadent sponge cakes found in the five boroughs. For anyone navigating the diverse food scene of 82nd Street, this bakery represents a slice of authentic community life, delivering flavor-packed results that have earned it a loyal following among the local Hispanic community and beyond.
Location and Accessibility
Las Americas Bakery is strategically located at 40-30 82nd St, Flushing, NY 11373, USA. Although the address lists Flushing, local New Yorkers recognize this specific block as part of the bustling Elmhurst commercial district. Situated on 82nd Street, one of the primary north-south arteries in this part of Queens, the bakery is surrounded by a dense mix of retail shops, diverse eateries, and residential buildings, making it an exceptionally high-traffic location. For residents of the 11373 zip code, the bakery is a convenient "just around the corner" destination for morning treats or an afternoon pick-me-up.
Accessibility is a major highlight for this establishment. It is located just a short walk from the 82nd St-Jackson Heights subway station, which serves the 7 train—often referred to as the "International Express." This makes the bakery easily accessible for anyone traveling from Manhattan, Long Island City, or deeper into Flushing. Additionally, several local bus routes, including the Q32 and Q33, stop in the immediate vicinity, providing seamless connections for those traveling from nearby Jackson Heights or Woodside. While street parking on 82nd Street can be competitive, the high walkability of the neighborhood and the density of public transit options make Las Americas Bakery a stress-free stop for those on foot or utilizing the city's transit network. The shop is a perfect waypoint for those exploring the rich cultural tapestry of the 82nd Street corridor.

The service, however, was very good and fast. I also want to point out that they don’t have the option to leave a tip when paying with a card, which shows a lack of empathy from the owners towards their employees — adding that option would definitely help them do better. The Rollo de Arequipe didn’t taste fresh, it had a fridge flavor and was hard. On the other hand, the pandebonos had very good flavor, and the pandeyucas were also delicious. Overall, they should consider adding the tip option on card payments to support their employees and work on making the place look nicer. For example, there was an old broken fridge in the lobby that gave a bad impression.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Las Americas Bakery, and I must say, it was an absolute delight! The atmosphere was welcoming, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. However, the real star of the show was their tres leches cake and it was simply divine! Moist, decadent, and bursting with flavor, it's hands down the best tres leches cake I've ever tried. Each bite was a heavenly experience, and I can't wait to go back for more. If you're in the area and craving something sweet, do yourself a favor and head to Las Americas Bakery and you won't be disappointed!

The beef empanadas had a pasty potato filling with tiny bits of beef. I’ve had better empanadas from other places in the area. Don’t expect good service either, the lady behind the counter didn’t seem to like being at work and she was giving customers attitude.
