Mia's Brooklyn Bakery Introduce
Introduction / Overview
In a city that never sleeps and always eats, finding a bakery that balances artisanal quality with a welcoming, neighborhood vibe can feel like a lucky discovery. Mia's Brooklyn Bakery has successfully made the leap from its origins in Brooklyn to become a cherished fixture on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Known for its "unapologetically decadent" approach to sweets, Mia's offers a massive selection of treats that cater to every possible craving—from nostalgic American classics to sophisticated European-style pastries. Whether you are a local resident stopping in for a morning espresso or someone on a desperate mission for a last-minute birthday centerpiece, Mia's provides a reliable sanctuary for high-quality baked goods.
The bakery prides itself on a "Brooklyn-born" identity, which translates to generous portions, bold flavors, and a friendly, efficient service style that New Yorkers appreciate. The interior is often described as a "vibe," combining the charm of a classic sweet shop with the functionality of a modern coffee bar. With its "mouthwatering wall of decadent sweets," Mia’s isn't just a place to buy a cookie; it’s an experience where you can lose yourself in the sheer variety of choices. From their famous Blackout Cake to delicate lobster tails and seasonal rugelach, the bakery remains a hit for those seeking premium treats at a reasonable price point without the long waits often found at trendier, "hype-driven" spots.
Location and Accessibility
Mia's Brooklyn Bakery is conveniently located at 1573 3rd Ave, New York, NY 10128, situated between 88th and 89th Streets. This prime Upper East Side location makes it an easy destination for those living in the Yorkville area or anyone strolling through the neighborhood. For those relying on public transportation, the bakery is exceptionally accessible. It is just a few blocks away from the 86th Street subway station, which serves the 4, 5, and 6 Lexington Avenue lines, as well as the Q train on the Second Avenue Subway. Multiple local bus routes, including the M101, M102, and M103, run directly along 3rd Avenue, dropping passengers off mere steps from the bakery’s front door.
The shop is designed to be inclusive and easy to navigate. The entrance is wheelchair accessible, and the layout inside allows for comfortable movement, even during busier weekend hours. For those who prefer to linger, the bakery offers indoor seating where you can enjoy your treats in a temperature-controlled environment. The UES location maintains the same extensive inventory as its downtown Brooklyn counterpart, ensuring that even late-night visitors—it is open until 10:00 PM or later most nights—can find a fully stocked display of fresh goods. Whether you are picking up a pre-ordered custom cake or ducking in for a quick "evening sweet treat," the accessibility of this location makes it a staple of Upper East Side life.

Features / Highlights
There are several distinct features that make Mia's Brooklyn Bakery a standout destination in the competitive New York City bakery scene:
- The Brooklyn Blackout Cake: A signature item that honors a classic NYC recipe, featuring deep chocolate sponge layers filled with rich chocolate custard and finished with chocolate cake crumbs.
- Extensive Variety: The shop is famous for its massive display cases that are "insane" in their scope, often featuring dozens of different cake slices, tarts, and pastries at any given time.
- Late-Night Hours: Unlike many artisanal bakeries that close early, Mia's stays open late (until 12:00 AM on Fridays and Saturdays), making it the perfect spot for a post-dinner dessert.
- Artisanal Lobster Tails: Their lobster tails, especially the pistachio-filled version, are highly praised for their flaky, buttery crust and generous, creamy filling.
- Professional Staff: Reviews frequently highlight the helpfulness of the team, who are known for being efficient even during high-pressure holiday rushes or complex custom cake pickups.
- Kosher-Style Traditions: The bakery excels in traditional treats like rugelach and hamantaschen, bringing a taste of classic New York heritage to the Upper East Side.

What is worth choosing
With so many options, it can be overwhelming to decide what to order. If you are looking for the definitive Mia's experience, the Brooklyn Blackout Cake is an absolute must. It is a chocolate lover's dream that perfectly captures the history of the borough. For those who prefer something lighter, the Strawberry Shortcake is a perennial favorite, known for its airy sponge and fresh, vibrant berries. Customers also "absolutely adore" the Pistachio Lobster Tail, which offers a satisfying crunch and a rich, nutty cream that isn't overly sweet.
For celebrations, the Seven-Layer Cake and the Burnt Almond Cake (a West Coast favorite they brought to NYC) are highly recommended. If you have dietary restrictions, don't skip the Vegan Fudge Cake or the Gluten-Free Chocolate Mousse Layer—reviewers often note that these taste just as indulgent as the traditional options. Lastly, if you're just looking for a small treat, their rainbow cookies and macarons are the perfect accompaniment to a double-shot latte. No matter what you choose, you can expect a "fresh and delicious" product that lives up to the bakery's stellar reputation.

Absolutely adore all the pastries. This place has so many good choices that you can lose yourself in it. I discovered this place when I was desperately looking for a birthday cake, and I should add, I ended up buying two different cakes—no regrets! The place is beautiful, the staff is very helpful, and the cakes? Thank God they saved my life that day. We've been using them for a couple of years now! Highly recommend! Go and enjoy every piece! PS: They also have birthday candles to save the day!

Mia’s is such a vibe, and I’m happy to report that the goods available on the UES are the same delicious variety as their downtown BK location (although I do like the aesthetic of the BK establishment a bit better). Still got my delicious lobster tail (pistachio) that has a generous amount of creamy filling, and two flavors of rugelach. I showed up late for an evening sweet treat and was delighted that all of their treats were still fully stocked, and service was—as always—super efficient and helpful. Mia’s is a hit for classic NYC baked goods at a reasonable price and little to no wait.

Very friendly and warm staff. Before my cake pick up I had a double espresso and chocolate croissant. Both were great and prepped correctly. Heated croissant was plated too which was great. This is an easy to find place with plenty of seating. There are toilets the room temperature was perfect. Was picking up a cake for a birthday and the entire process was very simple and efficient. The cake was fabulous and very well baked. Taste great and looked the part.

I had a custom birthday cake made for my son’s Notorious O.N.E. Birthday and Mia’s did a great job! It was really easy working with them through the online form and chat to decide on a design and the cake flavor, etc. I got a rainbow inside and it was so lovely for a birthday! I was so happy it was not a fondant cake because those never taste as good, especially for kids! The cake was ready for pickup on time and everyone thought it was delicious!
