From the warmth of the oven to the generosity of the servings, there are several highlights that characterize a visit to this Lexington Avenue landmark. Here are some of the standout features mentioned by the community:
- Fresh-out-of-the-oven batches: Lucky customers often arrive just as a new tray of everything bagels or sesame bagels is pulled from the oven, offering a superior taste and texture that only heat and freshness can provide.
- Generous portions: The shop is known for its liberal application of toppings, particularly when it comes to their smoked lox and premium cream cheeses.

What is worth choosing
When faced with a glass display case filled with dozens of options, making a choice can be overwhelming. However, several items at Tal Bagels have become "must-tries" based on local feedback. If you are looking for the quintessential experience, the Poppy Seed Bagel or the Everything Bagel are excellent starting points. These are often praised for their seasoning balance and the way they complement the shop's various spreads.
For those who enjoy a savory seafood breakfast, the lox is highly recommended. Many patrons have noted that the amount of lox provided is quite generous, ensuring that every bite is packed with flavor. Pairing a toasted poppy seed bagel with plain cream cheese and lox creates a classic flavor profile that represents the best of New York deli culture. While the pricing may reflect the premium location on the Upper East Side—with some specialty sandwiches reaching above the $20 mark—the quality of the ingredients and the size of the portions often justify the investment for a special treat or a weekend indulgence.
If you prefer your bagel straight from the source, keep an eye out for the "everything" variety when they are fresh-out-of-the-oven. The combination of garlic, onion, salt, and seeds becomes even more aromatic and flavorful when warm. No matter what you choose, the key to enjoying Tal Bagels is to embrace the local atmosphere, appreciate the craftsmanship of the bake, and perhaps strike up a conversation with the friendly staff behind the counter. It is these experiences that define the New York lifestyle and keep people coming back to 1324 Lexington Avenue year after year.

Tal Bagels Reviews

I have been here forever a few times. This time, I got a poppy seed bagel toasted with lox and plain cream cheese. It was pretty delicious, and the amount of lox was quite generous. The cream cheese was also nice. The bagel tasted good as well. However, it was quite small and was probably the most expensive bagel I’ve had so far. The same items usually cost me between $14-18, and I paid $20.64 for this tiny thing. Anyway, it was a nice bagel, but I probably won’t order my favorite combo at this location. The staff were okay.
