Apollo Bagels Introduce
In a city where the bagel is a sacred culinary institution, standing out requires more than just a standard recipe; it requires a unique perspective on dough, fermentation, and texture. Apollo Bagels has quickly become a standout name for New Yorkers who crave a modern, artisanal take on the classic breakfast staple. Nestled in the bustling landscape of Midtown Manhattan, this bagel shop has captured the attention of the local community by introducing a sourdough-based approach that elevates the traditional bagel to new heights. For those living in the New York region, Apollo Bagels represents a sophisticated evolution of the grab-and-go breakfast, focusing on high-quality crust development and premium toppings that reflect the city's evolving palate.
The philosophy at Apollo Bagels centers on the intersection of tradition and innovation. While many shops stick to age-old methods, Apollo has leaned into the sourdough movement, providing a tangier profile and a superior "crumb" that distinguishes their product from the dense, doughy bagels often found in transit hubs. This commitment to the craft has created a significant "hype" around the brand, but as many local patrons have noted, the experience genuinely lives up to the reputation. The atmosphere inside the shop is clean, efficient, and welcoming—a necessary combination for the fast-paced Manhattan lifestyle. Whether you are a local professional heading into an office building on 7th Avenue or a resident seeking the perfect weekend brunch, Apollo Bagels offers a refined experience that prioritizes the integrity of every ingredient.
Location and Accessibility
Apollo Bagels is perfectly situated at 224 W 35th St, New York, NY 10001, making it an incredibly convenient destination for a wide variety of New Yorkers. For those who commute through the city daily, the shop's proximity to Pennsylvania Station (Penn Station) is a major advantage. It is just a short walk from one of the busiest transit points in the world, serving commuters from the Long Island Rail Road, NJ Transit, and Amtrak. This central location ensures that regardless of where your morning begins—be it in the outer boroughs or the suburbs—an artisanal breakfast is just a few steps away from your train platform.
The shop is also highly accessible via the New York City Subway system. With the 34th Street-Penn Station complex nearby, users can easily reach the shop using the 1, 2, 3, A, C, and E lines. Furthermore, its location between 7th and 8th Avenues places it within walking distance of the Garment District, Herald Square, and the Madison Square Garden area. For visitors staying in nearby hotels or locals working in the surrounding high-rises, Apollo Bagels serves as a neighborhood anchor. The street-level entrance is easy to spot, and the surrounding area is a hive of activity, making it a perfect spot to observe the vibrant energy of Midtown while enjoying a freshly prepared meal.

What is worth choosing
If you are visiting Apollo Bagels for the first time, there are a few standout choices that define the establishment’s excellence. First and foremost, any sandwich featuring their sourdough bagel is a must-try. The crunch of the crust is a signature element that sets them apart from every other shop in the Midtown area. Local fans specifically recommend the salmon and onion bagel sandwich. The salmon is perfectly seasoned and pairs exceptionally well with their creamy, fresh spreads, creating a meal that feels artisanal and upscale. For those who appreciate a classic, the scallion cream cheese on a plain or everything sourdough bagel is a revelation, providing a savory depth that complements the slight tang of the sourdough dough.

One of the best bagels I’ve ever tasted! 🥯🍣 • I was so excited to try their bagels and they did not disappoint. The sourdough bagels are crunchy on the outside, perfectly soft and chewy inside. • The perfectly seasoned salmon and onions pair so well with the bagels. • I was full after finishing the meal, yet it still felt light; fresh ingredients really make all the difference. • Can’t wait to come back and try their other variants. • No lines when I visited, and the staff were quick and efficient. • Spacious dining area with limited seating, and they also have a restroom inside.

We had heard lots of good things about Apollo bagel. It lives up to the hype. Great bagel that was crispy on the outside with the right amount of chew. The scallion cream cheese was delicious. This location was close to our hotel and we got there early so there wasn't much of a line. My wife and I had a huge list of places to try and we are so glad Apollo bagel made the list! Thanks for the amazing breakfast!

Apollo’s Bagels is honestly very overrated and feels like a tourist trap. I would not return, especially since there are likely much better options in the city. The lines were extremely long for bagels that were, at best, average, and there was very limited seating available, so be prepared to stand while eating. You can choose from multiple different bagel types. For the butter and jelly option, we chose a plain bagel, and for the smoked salmon option, we selected an everything bagel. The smoked salmon bagel was decent, and the salmon itself was not overly fishy, which was a plus, but the cream cheese was basic and unremarkable. The everything bagel was also fairly generic and heavily loaded with sesame seeds. The jelly and butter option was actually the highlight. The plain bagel was noticeably more flavorful and fluffier than the everything bagel, making it much more enjoyable overall. The menu itself was simple, basic, and easy to follow, which made ordering straightforward. However, despite the convenience, nothing about the experience felt particularly memorable or impressive overall.

I just couldn’t understand how a simple bagel could be this heavenly delicious??? Had to visit Apollo Bagel at least one time every time im here in NY. Tried the flavors and my personal fav is the tomato cream cheese with everything bagel!! Don’t be fooled by its simpleness, as the bagel itself, the crispness, the salt flake, the tomato, the cream cheese, the seasoning..everything is just absolutely wonderfully made! But what stood out to me the most is its crispness. ✨🤌🏻 Idk what they did to make it that crispy and crunchy but OMG if this is not heaven, idk what is. I’ll be missing Apollo when I get back and looking forward to my next visit!!

The bagels are really delicious and the wait wasn’t long for me. But a few more tables would be nice as I saw that a lot of people after me didn’t have a table or had to wait a long time!
