Auntie Anne's Introduce
Introduction / Overview
Located within the world-famous "World's Largest Store," Auntie Anne’s at Macy’s Herald Square is a familiar and comforting presence for New Yorkers and visitors alike. Situated at 151 W 34th St, this bakery outpost provides the quintessential snack experience for those navigating the massive floors of this iconic Manhattan landmark. Whether you are a local on a dedicated shopping mission or a tourist taking in the sights of Midtown, the unmistakable aroma of fresh-baked dough and melted butter often serves as a beacon of relief amidst the hustle of 34th Street. As part of a global franchise that began in 1988, this location continues the tradition of hand-rolling and baking pretzels on-site, ensuring that every customer receives a treat that is warm, soft, and satisfyingly golden.
The role of Auntie Anne’s in the Herald Square ecosystem is unique. It serves as a high-traffic "recharge station" where speed and consistency are the priorities. In a city where time is of the essence, the bakery specializes in "portable" food—snacks that move with you as you browse the latest fashions or head toward your next destination. While it carries the familiar branding of a beloved national chain, its placement within the historic Macy’s building makes it a distinctively New York experience, reflecting the energy and demand of the city’s busiest shopping district. For many locals, a trip to Macy’s isn't complete without a cup of signature pretzel nuggets to fuel the journey through the store's nine sprawling levels.
Location and Accessibility
Auntie Anne’s is located at 151 W 34th St., New York, NY 10001, specifically housed within the Macy’s Herald Square flagship store. Finding the bakery often requires a bit of navigation through the store’s impressive interior; it is primarily found on the 7th floor, nestled among other dining options that cater to the thousands of shoppers who visit daily. This placement makes it particularly convenient for families shopping in the nearby children's departments or home goods sections. The location is open throughout the week, typically aligning with Macy's department store hours, which generally run from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM or 10:00 PM depending on the day.
Accessibility is a hallmark of the Herald Square area. The bakery is just a short distance from the 34th Street–Herald Square subway station, which serves the B, D, F, M, N, Q, R, and W lines. Additionally, it is within easy walking distance of Penn Station, providing access for those arriving via the 1, 2, 3, A, C, and E subway lines, as well as the Long Island Rail Road and NJ Transit. Inside the store, shoppers can reach the 7th floor via the historic wooden escalators or modern elevators. While the store can become extremely crowded, especially during holiday seasons like the Macy’s Flower Show or the lead-up to the Thanksgiving Day Parade, the bakery is designed to handle high volumes efficiently. Users should note that seating in the immediate vicinity is often shared with other food vendors and can be limited during peak hours.

What is worth choosing
When you find yourself at the Auntie Anne’s counter after a few hours of navigating Macy’s, the "Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel Nuggets" are arguably the most rewarding choice. They offer the perfect bite-sized balance of warmth and sweetness, making them easy to eat while walking. For those who prefer something savory, the "Pepperoni Pretzel Nuggets" are a standout, essentially acting as bite-sized pizzas with a chewy pretzel dough base, topped with a three-cheese blend and pepperoni. These are best paired with the "Marinara Dip" for a complete flavor profile.
If you are looking for a classic New York pairing, you cannot go wrong with an "Original Pretzel" and a side of "Cheese Dip." This combination has remained a bestseller for decades for a reason—the simple, buttery saltiness of the pretzel is elevated by the creamy, warm cheese. For a refreshing beverage to cut through the richness of the dough, the "Frozen Lemonade Mixer" (particularly in Blue Raspberry or Strawberry) is a local favorite, especially during the humid New York summer months. Finally, for those shopping with a group, the "Pretzel Bucket" is the most economical and efficient choice, providing enough nuggets for 5 to 7 people and allowing everyone to sample the bakery’s best work without the need for multiple individual orders.

I was shopping on the seventh floor and had food with me. I decided to sit down and eat my food at the tables that also had people not eating anything from auntie Anne’s and some had outside food. I am pregnant and decided to sit really quick. The cashier saw me sitting before the couple who couldn’t find a seat and didn’t say anything. A couple came complaining there weren’t any seats, so the cashier tells me you need to get up now. I tell her allow me a moment I am pregnant I’m almost done she proceeds to say she doesn’t care and go to McDonald’s. I refused as I was finishing up , I advised her that it’s rude to tell someone who’s pregnant to get up and leave when I was finishing up. She starts going off yelling tell me to be quiet that a pregnant person shouldn’t argue. I made a complaint with HR, this is unacceptable behavior. She could’ve easily told others to get up and leave and chose not to. I would never purchase anything from here.
