Liberty Bagels Midtown Introduce
For New Yorkers, a bagel is not just a breakfast item; it is a ritual. In the high-energy environment of Midtown Manhattan, where every second counts and the standards for a "real" bagel are sky-high, Liberty Bagels Midtown has established itself as a cornerstone of authentic bagel culture. Located on 35th Street, this shop is a vivid representation of the New York spirit: it is bustling, unpretentious, and dedicated to the craft of the perfect chew. Since its inception, Liberty Bagels has focused on preserving the old-world techniques that made the city's bagels famous, ensuring that every patron—from the local office worker to the curious traveler—experiences the genuine taste of a hand-rolled, kettle-boiled masterpiece.
The atmosphere at Liberty Bagels Midtown is often described by locals as "organized chaos" in the best possible way. The shop is frequently packed, creating a vibrant, high-density environment reminiscent of a subway car during rush hour. However, this energy is a testament to the quality of the food. Behind the counter, a highly efficient team moves with the precision of an Olympic squad, churning out hot sandwiches and freshly spread bagels at a speed that respects the New York minute. It is an experience that is sensory in every way—from the visual of the "bagel wall" to the aroma of garlic and sesame that greets you at the door. For those in the New York region, it is more than just a place to eat; it is a destination where tradition meets the modern pace of the city.
Location and Accessibility
Liberty Bagels Midtown is situated at 260 W 35th St, New York, NY 10001, placing it in one of the most accessible parts of Manhattan. For local users, its proximity to major transit hubs is a primary draw. It is just a few blocks away from Pennsylvania Station (Penn Station), making it a convenient stop for commuters using the Long Island Rail Road, NJ Transit, or Amtrak. Additionally, those traveling via the New York City Subway can easily reach the shop via the 34th Street–Penn Station hub, which services the 1, 2, 3, A, C, and E lines. This central location ensures that whether you are heading into work or catching a train out of the city, a top-tier breakfast is never out of reach.
The shop’s position between 7th and 8th Avenues also places it within walking distance of several iconic landmarks, including Madison Square Garden and the Macy’s Herald Square district. For locals who live or work in the Garment District or Chelsea, Liberty Bagels serves as a reliable daily haunt. While the sidewalk outside often features a line that can stretch down the block, the establishment is designed for high-volume foot traffic, ensuring that the wait is rarely as long as it looks. The entrance is welcoming, and once inside, the flow of the line is managed with a "down-to-a-science" efficiency that caters perfectly to the Midtown crowd.

What is worth choosing
When you find yourself inside Liberty Bagels Midtown, the menu can be an "info overload" in the best possible way. For the quintessential New York experience, the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese on a garlic or everything bagel is the gold standard. Local regulars swear by the garlic bagel for its robust flavor and double-sided topping coverage. If you are looking for something more substantial to power through a long day, "The Works" on a Liberty Bagel (the shop's red, white, and blue signature) is a local favorite, especially when you swap the standard American cheese for their house-made jalapeño cream cheese for an extra kick.
For those with a sweet tooth, the French Toast bagel is a standout, particularly when paired with a sweet spread like Oreo or walnut raisin. However, if you are looking for a savory lunch option, the "Bella Nova" or "Novacado" sandwiches provide a fresh, sophisticated balance of smoked salmon, avocado, and capers. Don't forget to add a side of their hash browns—patrons frequently mention they are well worth the extra couple of dollars. Whether you are there for the viral Rainbow Bagel or a traditional salt bagel with a heavy schmear of scallion cream cheese, you are choosing a place that represents the very best of Manhattan's bagel heritage. It’s loud, it’s crowded, and it’s undeniably delicious.

Liberty Bagels Midtown is absolute chaos in the best possible way. Place was packed—standing room only—like a bagel-themed subway car at rush hour. But honestly? Worth it. The bagels are so good they should come with a warning label. Chewy, fresh, and clearly the reason everyone in Midtown decided to be in the same square footage at the same time. Staff somehow kept things moving despite the crowd, which felt like an Olympic-level achievement. If you’re looking for a quiet, meditative breakfast… this ain’t it. If you want a top-tier bagel and a story to tell afterward, get in line and embrace the madness. 🥯👏

The best bagels in midtown in my opinion. I got the bacon egg and cheese on a garlic bagel, so good. The shop is extremely crowded every time I'm in, but the service is quick and you're in and out very fast. I also got a dozen bagels which was quick and easy.

Colorful and fun experience. Expect to wait in line about 15-20 mins tops but very worth it. Once you get inside be ready with your order, would recommend to research before going lots of bagels and schmear to choose from. I am a somewhat purist so plain bagel and cream cheese for me but make it colorful please. Can't rate service higher since it's basically : what's your order, here's your bagel and get out from all the noise and standing shoulder to shoulder to the 30 people that are inside quite a small amount of space. Overall would recommend.

Unbelievable bagels and great service! I stopped by Liberty Bagels Midtown during a mother–daughter weekend in NYC, and it did not disappoint! It’s an easy walk from 5th Avenue, and even though the line forms outside, it moves quickly thanks to the nice gentleman managing the flow of traffic. Orders are handled super efficiently—pickups are brought right to the door for fast access. Inside there’s a small standing bar, and outside you’ll find a few tables on the patio if you want to enjoy your food there. The staff was friendly, the service was quick, and the food was incredible. I had a blueberry bagel with egg, sausage, and cheese—honestly one of the best bagels I’ve ever had. And don’t skip the hash browns—they’re worth it! Highly recommend this spot for anyone craving a true New York bagel experience.

Go for the Rainbow bagel. You know you want to. We did and enjoyed it along with some other bagel options. Bonus: you can also get a red white and blue Liberty bagel. Plenty of cream cheese choices too. The crowds were wild but manageable. Started outside and they let you in one group at a time. Then you wait inside in a split line to order. Then you wait again in the pickup line once it’s ready. Whole process took about 20 min or so. Limited seating/standing outside. Share if you need to or take to go. Must try spot if in the area.
