Best Bagel & Coffee Introduce
For any New Yorker, the search for the perfect bagel is more than just a quest for breakfast; it is a pursuit of a cultural staple that defines the city's culinary identity. In a city where a bagel shop sits on nearly every corner, standing out requires a commitment to tradition, scale, and flavor that few can master. Best Bagel & Coffee, located in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, has managed to do exactly that. This establishment has earned its reputation not through flashy marketing, but through the consistent production of hand-rolled, kettle-boiled bagels that satisfy the high standards of the most discerning local commuters and residents alike.
The atmosphere at Best Bagel & Coffee captures the quintessential energy of New York City. It is a place where efficiency meets quality, serving a steady stream of patrons who know exactly what they want. While the interior is cozy and the pace is fast, there is an underlying dedication to the craft of bagel making that is evident the moment you step through the door. The aroma of toasted sesame, everything seasoning, and freshly brewed coffee creates an inviting sanctuary against the urban backdrop of 35th Street. For those living in the New York region, this isn't just a place for tourists; it is a reliable local haunt that delivers the "real deal" every single morning.
Location and Accessibility
Strategically positioned at 225 W 35th St A, New York, NY 10001, Best Bagel & Coffee sits in a prime location that bridges the gap between the frantic energy of the Garment District and the major transportation arteries of the city. For locals, accessibility is one of the shop's greatest assets. It is situated just a few minutes' walk from Pennsylvania Station (Penn Station), making it an essential stop for those arriving via the Long Island Rail Road, NJ Transit, or Amtrak. Its proximity to the 34th Street-Penn Station subway hub (serving the 1, 2, 3, A, C, and E lines) ensures that no matter which borough you call home, a world-class breakfast is within easy reach.
The shop’s location is also ideal for those working in Midtown or visiting nearby landmarks like Macy’s Herald Square and Madison Square Garden. Interestingly, while it is close to these high-traffic areas, the specific block on 35th Street manages to feel slightly tucked away from the main tourist throngs, offering a moments of relative quiet for those who manage to snag a seat. Whether you are a local professional grabbing a sandwich before heading to the office or a commuter looking for a hearty meal before a train ride, the shop’s central Manhattan footprint makes it an incredibly convenient destination.

What is worth choosing
When it comes to placing an order at Best Bagel & Coffee, the consensus among regular patrons is clear: go big. The bagel sandwiches are the undisputed stars of the menu. Specifically, any combination involving their crispy bacon and eggs is a winner. The bacon is consistently highlighted for its perfect crunch, which provides a textural contrast to the soft, fresh bagel. Because the sandwiches are famously "loaded with delicious goodness," it is often recommended to share a sandwich if you aren't exceptionally hungry, as the sheer volume of ingredients—especially the cream cheese—is quite substantial.
If you prefer a simpler experience, a toasted everything bagel with a heavy schmear of their scallion cream cheese allows the quality of the bagel itself to shine. The "perfect" texture of the dough is what keeps locals coming back day after day. To wash it all down, their coffee is a mandatory pairing; it is robust enough to stand up to the heavy flavors of a loaded breakfast sandwich. While there are numerous bagel options within a 100-foot radius, the combination of size, freshness, and authentic preparation makes Best Bagel & Coffee the definitive choice for anyone seeking the quintessential Manhattan bagel experience. Just remember that seating is limited to about eight tables, so be prepared to take your delicious find to-go if the shop is buzzing during the weekend or the morning rush.
In a city that prides itself on its bagels, Best Bagel & Coffee has managed to secure its place in the top tier of New York institutions. It represents the best of Midtown—fast, high-quality, and generous. Whether you are a lifelong New Yorker or just passing through Penn Station, stopping here is a rite of passage that rewards you with one of the most satisfying meals in the five boroughs. Everyone says it, but it needs to be said again anyways. The bagel sandwiches are huge. I say this as a large man. Share! They are loaded with delicious goodness and overflowing with cream cheese. There isn’t a lot of space inside so on a weekend I wouldn’t expect a table because there’s only maybe 8 of them. Food was piping hot and fresh, and DELICIOUS! This is THE bagel spot I’d recommend to anyone visiting Manhattan. It’s not too far from everything but somehow just far enough away for some quiet.

Absolutely amazing little bagel shop. The bacon was crispy. The bagels were literally perfect. Staff was even nice. This is what you look for when you’re looking for a good bagel in the morning. Not a lot of place to sit, but there is some I would choose this place over the four or five other places with him 100 feet of it.

I hate bagels but wanted to try a good NY bagel. Sunday at 10am had a line that moved quick. Ordered in a few minutes- I didn’t have time to review the entire menu. Then waited about 5-7mins and my number was called. Wife enjoyed her Everything w/Cream Cheese. I ate half a toasted Plain Sausage, Egg n Cheese and had a bite outta a plain cream cheese. Not for me. But service and quality was good and everyone else was enjoying it.

Was planning to go to Liberty Bagels but went here instead because the line was too long. There was a line, but we ordered and got our food in about ten minutes. This was THE BEST bagel I’ve ever had. I got a BEC with the honey siracha cream cheese and my brother got the Hungry Stack. Both were SO GOOD, the bagel was hot and fresh and everything tasted delicious. I’m so glad we went here instead 10/10 would recommend!!

When you come to New York, this is a great place for bagels! The ordering process is as smooth as the numerous amounts of differently style cream cheese they offer. Our only issue we encountered was mainly with the online ordering system. It did not allow for us to make any modifications to our orders prior to purchasing. Upon arrival, we ordered food to eat in house while we were picking our online orders up. We asked about modifications seeing as how the system did not allow for it. They said they couldn’t change the bagel choices once they were bagged. Furthermore, we asked that our bagels not be sliced in half. The entire dozen were sliced in half. This was our first impression of Best Bagels and while the system may not be perfect, it’s definitely somewhere we’d come back to. And you should too!
