Auntie Anne's Introduce
For the millions of commuters and travelers passing through the transit heart of Manhattan, few scents are as recognizable or welcoming as the aroma of butter-brushed dough baking to a golden brown. Auntie Anne's at 2 Pennsylvania Plaza, located within the subterranean corridors of the iconic Penn Station, serves as a reliable oasis for those navigating the city's busiest transportation hub. Whether you are catching an LIRR train to Long Island, a NJ Transit commute, or simply passing through to the 1, 2, or 3 subway lines, this location provides a quick, comforting taste of a classic American snack that has become a staple of New York’s "on-the-go" food culture. Unlike the more formal sit-down eateries in the vicinity, this bakery focuses on efficiency, providing hot-out-of-the-oven treats that are designed to move with the speed of a New Yorker.
The experience at this specific Pennsylvania Plaza location is uniquely characterized by its convenience. In a station as vast as Penn, Auntie Anne's has strategically positioned kiosks to serve different high-traffic zones. This allows the bakery to act as a consistent reliable point for a "pick-me-up" during a long day of travel or work. The atmosphere is high-energy and bustling, mirroring the frantic pace of the commuters around it. However, the staff at these kiosks are noted for their politeness and patience, often handling the pressure of busy and sometimes irate travelers with a professional calm. For local users, it represents more than just a franchise; it is a tactical stop for a warm bite and a cold drink that has been a part of the Midtown landscape for years.
Location and Accessibility
Auntie Anne's is located at 2 Pennsylvania Plaza, New York, NY 10121, USA. This address is essentially synonymous with the Penn Station complex, situated right above the transit lines between 7th and 8th Avenues. This location is one of the most accessible in the entire city. It is directly reachable via the 1, 2, 3, A, C, and E subway lines, as well as the Long Island Rail Road, NJ Transit, and Amtrak. For those on the street level, it is positioned directly beneath Madison Square Garden and is a short walk from the Herald Square shopping district and Macy’s. Within the station itself, there are multiple kiosks; many regulars prefer the stall located near the stairs close to the food court areas, which is known for having a wider selection of beverage options, including their signature smoothies.
Services Offered
- Hand-Rolled Pretzel Production: Freshly prepared dough is twisted and baked throughout the day to ensure maximum freshness for every customer.
- Grab-and-Go Kiosks: Multiple points of sale throughout Penn Station designed for high-speed service to accommodate train schedules.
- Diverse Beverage Menu: A selection of refreshing drinks including their world-famous lemonade, frozen lemonade mixers, and fruit smoothies.
- Pretzel Perks Rewards: Integration with the Auntie Anne's mobile app, allowing local users to earn points and redeem free snacks on their daily commute.
- Mobile Ordering: Ability to skip the line by ordering ahead via the app for quick pick-up at the Pennsylvania Plaza stalls.
- Catering and Bundles: Shareable buckets of nuggets and pretzel dogs for office meetings or large groups traveling through the station.
- Delivery Services: Participation in major delivery platforms for residents and workers in the Midtown West and Chelsea neighborhoods.
Features and Highlights
- Iconic Golden-Brown Texture: The signature "butter-brushed" finish that provides a slightly salty, rich exterior and a soft, pillowy interior.
- High-Volume Efficiency: Calibrated to serve the dense crowds of Penn Station, making it one of the fastest snack options in the area.
- Smoothie Availability: Unlike some other smaller kiosks, the specific stall near the stairs close to Palaya Foods offers a larger variety of smoothies and blended drinks.
- Classic and Innovative Flavors: A range of options from the traditional salty twist to sweet almond and cinnamon sugar varieties.
- Patient Customer Service: Staff are frequently praised for their polite and professional demeanor even during peak rush-hour chaos.
- Hot and Fresh Guarantee: Because of the high turnover at this transit hub, pretzels are rarely sitting for long, ensuring they are almost always served hot.
- Nathan's Famous Collaboration: Many of the pretzel dogs and mini bites feature the famous Nathan's hot dogs, combining two legendary New York brands.

What is worth choosing
When you are looking for a reliable snack at Auntie Anne's, the Classic Original Pretzel remains the gold standard. It is the simple, buttery, and salty twist that built the brand's reputation, and at the Penn Station location, its freshness is virtually guaranteed due to the sheer volume of customers. If you are in a rush and need something easier to eat while walking to your platform, the Pretzel Nuggets or the Mini Pretzel Dogs are the superior choice. These bite-sized treats offer the same iconic flavor but are much more manageable for "on-the-go" dining. For those with a sweet tooth, the Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel bites paired with a Sweet Glaze dip provide a dessert-like experience that is hard to beat.
To round out your snack, the "Famous Lemonade" is a mandatory addition. Many locals consider it a "charm" for freshening up during a stressful transit day. If you are visiting the specific stall near the stairs close to the food court, you should take advantage of their smoothie selection, particularly the Strawberry or Mango varieties, which are not available at every kiosk. These blended drinks are exceptionally refreshing and act as a perfect foil to the salty richness of the dough. Lastly, for those who frequent the station, downloading the Pretzel Perks app is highly recommended; the frequency of "Manager's Specials" and the ease of earning free pretzels makes it a favorite for the daily NYC commuter. Whether you need a quick salty bite before your train leaves or a refreshing lemonade to survive a hot summer afternoon in the station, Auntie Anne's at 2 Pennsylvania Plaza delivers a consistent, 10/10 snack experience.

This location is inside the Penn train station, There are 3 Kiosk in this location! My favorite is the one by the stairs close to Palaya foods, and other fast food restaurants. This one tends to have more drink varieties. They have smoothies, while the others do not.

Came here to freshen up with that famous lemonade drink they have which worked like a charm. Their selection of pretzels and salty bites has diversified over the years but the classic one is still the best. The lady attendant in this stall was polite and patient despite the busy and irate customers in line. Enjoyed my snack here. I'm sure you will too.

Under the new ownership, the quality of the pretzels here do not match a normal Auntie Anne’s. They taste stale at times and the texture isn’t right. They need to be more crispy in the outside, especially the bottom while maintaining the soft buttery taste in the inside. Once you get this down, this branch will be respected again as the location is great but food quality is just not there.

Eshu is the only reason I keep choosing the Penn station Auntie Anne’s for any snack cravings I have. I LOVE the Penn station Aunt Annie’s. You couldn’t have kinder staff in the whole world.

Atrocious. Cashier doesn't know the difference between an original pretzel dog and mini pretzel dogs. "They're the same thing.". No, they're not. And when an error is made by *them*, it will be blamed on *you*, the customer, instead of them. The cashier was NOT going to refund us *at first*, saying that they had "no refunds". Had I *not* spoken up and said something, we would have been completely robbed of $11 and would've been given blue lemonades "in exchange". As if that is equal. The moment after I spoke up, the cashier gave us a full cash refund immediately; completely becoming a hypocrite to his own word. Just know if you go here: If *they* make a mistake with your order, then *you*, the customer, will be at fault. Absolutely toxic staff. Hire adults to work at your establishment. Not grown children.
