Krispy Kreme Introduce
Introduction / Overview
In the heart of the New York metropolitan area, where the rhythm of the city is dictated by the hum of transit and the hurry of millions, Krispy Kreme at Penn Station stands as a sugary beacon for the weary traveler and the local professional alike. This specific location, nestled within the bustling corridors of 2 Penn Plaza, brings the global phenomenon of the "Original Glazed" donut to one of the most transit-dense spots in the world. For New Yorkers, Penn Station is more than just a train hub; it is a subterranean city of its own, and having a reliable source for a warm, melt-in-your-mouth treat is a necessity for navigating the daily grind.
Krispy Kreme has long been a household name, but the Penn Station branch offers a unique experience tailored to the high-pressure environment of Manhattan transit. While the brand is famous for its "Hot Light" theater, this location focuses on precision, speed, and surprisingly personalized customer service that stands out in a city known for its sometimes-brusque efficiency. Whether you are grabbing a dozen to win over your colleagues at a Midtown office or seeking a solitary "Cookie Biscoff" donut to enjoy during a long commute on NJ Transit or Amtrak, this shop provides a consistent quality that serves as a reliable comfort amidst the chaos of 34th Street.
The shop caters to a wide demographic—from the early morning commuter seeking a sugar-fueled start to their day to the late-night event-goer leaving Madison Square Garden. What truly distinguishes this Krispy Kreme is the human element; local patrons frequently note that the staff here goes above and beyond, transforming a simple transaction into a moment of genuine hospitality. In a place as vast and impersonal as Penn Station, finding a donut shop where the employees anticipate your needs—such as offering smaller boxes to make a large order more portable for a backpack—is a refreshing change of pace that keeps locals coming back despite the "obstacle course" of the station’s layout.
Location and Accessibility
Finding your way to Krispy Kreme can be an adventure in itself, given its prime real estate at 2 Penn Plz, specifically on the Amtrak Level of New York, NY 10121. For those unfamiliar with the labyrinthine nature of Penn Station, it is best described as being situated within the lower levels of the 2 Penn Plaza complex, which sits directly atop the station and adjacent to Madison Square Garden. It is most easily accessed by those already within the station's transit ecosystem, particularly those heading toward the Amtrak or NJ Transit concourses.
Accessibility is unparalleled for the commuter, as the shop is just steps away from the platforms for Amtrak, Long Island Rail Road (LIRR), and NJ Transit. For those traveling via the New York City Subway, the 1, 2, and 3 lines at the 34th Street-Penn Station stop provide the most direct access. Users of the A, C, and E lines at the 8th Avenue side of the station will find it a short walk through the connecting underground passages. While the location can be tricky to find for the uninitiated—sometimes requiring a quick query to a station employee—its "hidden" nature means it often serves as a tactical secret for those who want to avoid the longer lines found at street-level bakeries. Once you navigate the escalators and corridors to the Amtrak Level, the familiar glow of the Krispy Kreme signage acts as a definitive landmark.

What is Worth Choosing
When you finally navigate the turns of Penn Station and arrive at the counter, the "Original Glazed" remains the gold standard. For those who have never experienced it, it is a light, yeast-raised donut that provides a simple but satisfying sweetness. It is particularly recommended if you can catch a fresh batch, as the texture is famously cloud-like. However, if you are looking for something with a bit more complexity, the "Cookie Biscoff" flavor is a top-tier choice. This donut combines the airy base of a Krispy Kreme donut with the crunch and deep caramel-spice notes of Biscoff cookies, offering a sophisticated mix of textures that many New Yorkers find superior to the basic glaze.
For those who prefer a denser treat that feels more like a pastry, the Krispy Kreme Cinnamon Roll is a worthy contender. While it is often compared to a "honey bun" in terms of its glazed exterior, it provides a hearty option for those who find the standard donuts too light for a full breakfast. If you are buying for a group, don't hesitate to order the "Assorted Dozen." This allows you to sample the filled varieties—like the Chocolate Iced with Kreme Filling—which provide a richer, more indulgent experience. Lastly, a professional tip for the local commuter: if you are worried about carrying the large, iconic green and white box through the crowded subway or onto a packed train, ask the staff for "split packaging." The team at this Penn Station location is famously accommodating and will likely help you break down your order into smaller, more manageable containers that fit easily into a work bag. This small gesture of service is exactly what makes the Penn Station Krispy Kreme a standout destination in the New York donut scene.

Got the original glazed and tried the cinnamon roll. Never had krispy kreme before and it's ok, didn't blow me away with all the hype I've heard about them. The original glazed was good and the cinnamon roll tasted like a honey bun, would say it could used more cinnamon filling. Tried the Cookie Biscoff flavor, was pretty good flavor and good mix of textures.

short: best customer service of any Krispy Kreme from Jeremiah long: placed an online order for a dozen to take to the office to share with coworkers. I usually go to the one on 23rd Street but it's farther and the staff is on the rude side so I decided to go on the obstacle course to find this location. I looked at the map a few times and still had to ask an NJ Transit employee for directions. I finally made it, and the customer service of Jeremiah was very refreshing. The big dozen box is awkward to carry, so I took three bags to remove them from the box to carry in my backpack. They saw me doing this and asked me if I'd like a half-dozen box or 3 donut box. I was caught by surprise. I didn't even know how to respond at first, so I responded that I didn't want to inconvenience them, so whatever is easiest for them. They even transferred the donuts over to the smaller boxes. I'm very happy with their level of customer service. Highly recommend this location.

I was standing in line with my child behind a woman, and everyone was waiting politely for about 10 minutes. Suddenly, three people cut in line behind the woman and in front of us. When the woman in front of me finished ordering, the staff said that because he didn’t see us, he would take the order of the people who cut in line first. This made my child and me feel deeply disrespected. Because my child is shorter, the staff claimed he didn’t see us and therefore refused to take our order. It felt like discrimination, and it was absolutely outrageous It completely traumatized a child who had been so hopeful and excited because this was their favorite store.

Crowded and long line but the wait is short! Love the staff. Super helpful and friendly! They always have freshly made warm & crispy glazed doughnuts ready every time I get there. SO DELICIOUS OMG

The last two times I was here, I went home and saw that my order was partially incorrect. Each time, I didn’t even order a lot but there was at least one incorrect donut in the box when I opened it at home. Since there are no locations in Long Island anymore, if we take the LIRR into Manhattan for any reason, we make a stop at this location on the way home. Pretty expensive experience to wind up with the wrong donuts on multiple occasions. Last trip was on 3/8/26 at around 4:45 PM. It wasn’t even busy there at that moment. I guess I’ll have to check the box from now on before walking away from the register.
