Introduction / Overview
Magnolia Bakery first opened its doors in 1996 in the West Village, but its expansion into major hubs like Hudson Yards has made its iconic recipes more accessible than ever. This location maintains the high standards that the brand is famous for, emphasizing fresh ingredients and classic American baking styles. The Hudson Yards location is particularly popular for those looking to grab a quick treat to-go or to bring home a gift for a special occasion. While the shop is part of a larger chain, the focus remains on the handcrafted quality of each item, ensuring that every cupcake and pudding cup meets the brand’s storied expectations.
As a staple of the New York dessert scene, the bakery is often busy, which is a testament to its enduring popularity. The staff works diligently to manage the steady stream of customers, balancing the needs of tourists with the quick-service expectations of local office workers. Despite the rush, the goal is always to provide a friendly, professional interaction that leaves every guest satisfied. Whether it is your first time trying the banana pudding or your hundredth, the experience at Magnolia Bakery is designed to be a highlight of your day in Midtown West.

What is worth choosing
When you find yourself at the counter of Magnolia Bakery at Hudson Yards, the definitive choice is, and likely always will be, the Classic Banana Pudding. It is definitely worth the wait and is frequently praised for not being overly sweet. The perfect ratio of cake-like wafers, light pudding, fresh banana slices, and whipped cream creates a texture that is light yet satisfying. Many locals consider it a "must-have" whenever they are in the area. For those who want to explore beyond the classic, the shop often offers seasonal variations of the pudding that are equally indulgent.
If you are looking for something with a bit more zest, the Key Lime Ice Box Cake is a fantastic alternative. It offers a refreshing, tangy flavor profile that provides a nice contrast to the creamier puddings. Additionally, the Red Velvet Cheesecake is a standout for those who enjoy the richness of New York-style cheesecake combined with the cocoa-infused flavor of classic red velvet cake. While the bakery offers a wide range of parfaits and cupcakes, focusing on the "ice box" cakes and the signature puddings typically yields the most authentic Magnolia experience. Whether you are grabbing a small cup for a solo walk or a large tub to share with the family, these items represent the very best of what this iconic Manhattan bakery has to offer. Be sure to check the labels and don't hesitate to clarify your order with the staff to ensure you get exactly what you're craving!

I ask for what puddings they have, the genius at the register says they have a vanilla pudding with banana slices in it. I said that they used to have a banana pudding, the genius rolls his eyes, very annoyed with how stupid I am, says "that's literally just what I said" and he says "vanilla pudding with banana slices" again. I say OK 2 of those. He brings them puts them in a bag. And guess what, look at the picture, it says Banana Pudding. I am humbled by this genius who doesn't know the name of the main thing he sells at this store, yet thinks the customer is too stupid for him. 02/24/2026 8:45 PM.

The classic banana pudding is def worth the wait! Not too sweet, great mix of cake, pudding, bananas and whipped cream! It was so good! The key lime ice box cake and red velvet cheesecake were so good too! The chocolate pudding parfait was not a fave. We went back twice during our trip. Service was good, workers were polite.

If the spotless bowl isn’t proof of how incredible the classic banana pudding is, I don’t know what is. It came highly recommended, and I wasn’t sure it would live up to the hype — but it absolutely did.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. This is by far the WORST location. I came on a Friday afternoon and the staff was unbelievably rude and disrespectful. He didnt have the name tag. Niema was friendly. Even if you just want banana pudding, you’re stuck waiting forever because they have no separate line like other locations. The turnover is painfully slow and the line barely moves.

Love Magnolia however when I went to get banana pudding, the guy who work at the cashier was so rude and didn't even wanna make eye contact. Are they racist or something? And also the banana pudding was way too sweet. I never tasted their pudding that sweet before. Please have some manners and please make sure don't make the pudding so sweet cause the banana already makes it sweet enough already
