What is worth choosing
When you step into Pick A Bagel, the sheer number of choices can be overwhelming. However, for those who want the true experience, the "Whole Wheat Everything" bagel is a standout favorite among regulars. It offers the savory crunch of the traditional everything topping with the slightly denser, nuttier profile of whole wheat. Pair this with one of their many cream cheeses for a satisfying meal that feels a bit more substantial than a standard white flour bagel.
For the vegan community or those looking for a dairy alternative, the tofu cream cheese is highly recommended. It is a feature that sets Pick A Bagel apart from many smaller shops that might only offer standard dairy spreads. The shop is also known for its generous portions. If you are a fan of "the schmear," you will find that they do not hold back on the toppings. However, a local tip for those who prefer a lighter touch: be sure to specify "light cream cheese" if you aren't looking for a massive amount of spread, as their standard serving size is quite hearty.
If you have a sweet tooth, many customers enjoy the combination of cream cheese and jelly on a well-toasted bagel. It is a classic New York comfort food. Regardless of your choice, the key at Pick A Bagel is customization. Don't be afraid to be specific with your order—whether you want it "well toasted" or "scooped out," the staff is accustomed to the specific demands of New York bagel lovers. The shop’s ability to provide a consistent, high-quality product in such a fast-paced environment is exactly why it remains one of the better-regarded bagel spots in the Manhattan area.
In summary, Pick A Bagel at 37 West End Ave provides an essential service to the New York community. It balances the need for speed with a commitment to variety and quality. While the shop is small and can get busy, the efficiency of the service and the freshness of the product make it a premier choice for anyone in the 10023 zip code. Whether you are grabbing a whole wheat everything bagel for your walk to the park or a dozen for the office, you are participating in a local tradition that defines the New York culinary experience.

I honestly love it. It’s affordable for what I get it’s Small busy …but thats not where my issue is. ”when I ask for something and it’s not done RIGHT ! I asked for a well toasted everything bagel, light cream cheese, and jelly. The cream cheese is a heart attack waiting to happen. I don’t know who made it, but this is crazy and it’s not well toasted.

Pick a bagel is definitely one of the better bagel shops in Manhattan. This store is small but great service. Lots of options, a few tables inside, easy pay and quick. Vegan tofu cream cheese available. Whole wheat everything is my fave but lots of bagel options here! Definitely check it out if you haven’t been.

I'd been to the Pick A Bagel on 8th Ave, but this was my first time at this UWS location. My friend is a regular here, so the staff knew her drink order, which was cool. We ordered 2 bagels to share: - Plain bagel with lox spread cream cheese, lettuce and tomato - Blueberry bagel with strawberry cream cheese We took the bagels to go, but there were some tables inside, which was nice. With the first one, I really liked the addition of lettuce and tomato. It made for a great sandwich for lunch. The second is my friend's go-to. I've always enjoyed blueberry bagels, but had never tried strawberry cream cheese. I didn't find the pink bubble gum color very appealing, but it was pretty good--sweet, like a dessert bagel. One thing I did notice was that they don't put on a ton of cream cheese like some other bagel shops do. I'm ok with that since I prefer light cream cheese, but I can see how people are unhappy, since it does feel overpriced for the amount you get.

Excellent flat bagels. Unique taste. Crispy. Elevating the NYC bagel experience by multiple levels. Best bagel in the city. Try the everything one, in particular.

Very quick service and good bagels. This would be a 4 star review if only the staff weren't so rude. Upon getting to the shop the line looked long, but it went really quick. It was a shame once we got to the front to be treated with a "what do you want?" Felt pretty u welcome from here. It saving grace is the speed you get your fresh food and the tastiness. They are really good Bagels!!!
