I'm donut ? times square Introduce
Introduction / Overview
New York City has always been a global hub for culinary innovation, but the arrival of "I'm donut ?" in the heart of Times Square has introduced a specific level of craftsmanship that is redefining the local dessert scene. Hailing from Japan, where it gained a cult-like following for its signature "raw" texture, this shop offers a sophisticated departure from the traditional American fried dough. Located in one of the most vibrant and high-traffic areas of Manhattan, "I'm donut ?" caters to locals and visitors alike who are seeking a refined, high-quality treat that balances delicate flavors with an airy, melt-in-your-mouth consistency.
The concept behind "I'm donut ?" revolves around a specialized brioche dough. Unlike the dense or cake-like varieties often found in New York bakeries, these donuts are characterized by their extreme softness and high moisture content. This creates a unique mouthfeel that feels lighter and more elegant than a standard pastry. The shop brings a piece of contemporary Japanese dessert culture to the United States, focusing on precision, balanced sweetness, and high-quality ingredients like premium matcha, cocoa, and fresh creams.
Location and Accessibility
Finding a tranquil culinary experience in the middle of Midtown can be a challenge, but "I'm donut ?" is strategically positioned to be accessible for anyone navigating the Theater District. The shop is situated at 154 W 45th St, New York, NY 10036. This prime location puts it just steps away from major Broadway theaters, the bright lights of the Times Square bowtie, and several major transit hubs.
For those traveling by subway, the shop is exceptionally easy to reach. It is within walking distance of the Times Sq - 42 St station, which serves the N, Q, R, W, S, 1, 2, 3, and 7 lines. Additionally, it is close to the 47-50 Sts - Rockefeller Ctr station (B, D, F, M lines) and the Bryant Park station. Because the shop is located on 45th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues, it serves as a perfect pit-stop for office workers in Midtown or tourists exploring the city. The storefront is designed for efficiency, allowing customers to step in from the bustle of the street into a focused, organized environment.

What is worth choosing
When visiting "I'm donut ?" in Times Square, the primary draw is undoubtedly the original plain brioche donut. This is the best way to experience the technical mastery of their dough without the distraction of heavy toppings. The "OG" original and the chocolate-covered versions are perennial favorites for those who appreciate simplicity and perfect execution. The texture is often described as "cloud-like," providing a sensory experience that justifies the premium price point.
For those who prefer filled pastries, the cream-filled versions are highly regarded. Unlike many American-style cream puffs or donuts that can be overly sugary, the cream here is light and airy, emphasizing a milky richness rather than pure sugar. If you are a fan of traditional Japanese flavors, the Matcha donut is a top-tier choice, though it is known to sell out quickly due to its popularity. For a bolder, more indulgent profile, the Dulce de Leche offers a deeper, caramelized sweetness, though it is significantly richer than the other menu items. Regardless of your choice, visitors are encouraged to try the ring-style donuts early in the day, as these are often the first to disappear from the shelves. This shop is not just a place to grab a quick snack; it is a destination for those who want to experience the intersection of Japanese culinary art and the vibrant energy of New York City.

I stumbled upon this place while taking an evening walk in Times Square, and it turned out to be an incredible find. This shop specializes in Japanese-style donuts, and you can immediately tell the difference — extremely soft, refined, and full of delicate flavor. Matcha was unfortunately sold out, but every other flavor I tried was top quality. The texture and sweetness are perfectly balanced, capturing the essence of Japanese dessert culture. It is pricey, but I genuinely felt like I was experiencing Japanese culture through their donuts, so it was worth it. If you’re near Times Square and want a unique dessert experience, I highly recommend it. Absolutely satisfied. 👍

Really really good donuts! When you enter the store, you will fill out your order on a paper, bring it to the register to pay and pick up. I recommend to eat it immediately, especially in this cold weather in which the texture will not be as good after being exposed to the cold. The best thing about this donut is its texture, very airy, and it has the right sweetness level for a donut (for most of them). I tried the dulce de leche and while it is good, it is super sweet, but that's just how dulce de leche is. I also tried the cream version, and it has a lot of cream inside and it is not sweet at all, but it still feels too much for me to finish one. For the og donut, I like the original and chocolate covered. We came around 9pm and all the ring donuts were sold out. It's also nice that they open till 11pm.

The service is this: Walk in see a clipboard and pen. Put your name on top of the paper then put the number of how many donuts you want in each box. If that is too hard then a worker will help you. Walk to the register. My cashier was friendly. Give the paper and pay. Watch the staff make and bake the donuts as you wait for the cashier to get some that are already made for your order. The place is clean and it looks like a higher end shop. The design looks similar to the apple (mac) store. The box that the donuts come in to the bag that they are put in are designed well. My donuts were the plain and PB&J. They were flavorful and tasted light and pillowy. I probably won't come often, but I want to try their savory options at some point. I wish they would list their nutritional facts like fat, cholesterol, etc. It's not in store or on the website. The cost for a donut (at the time of writing this) is around $4 and up. It's around the same price as other high end bakeries like Angelina's. Give it a try even if it is only once.

These donuts are not your regular donuts, they are very fluffly almost like a cloud feel in your mouth. I would recommend their original one, I also tried the strawberry and the custard one but they were a little too sweet for me, now the original one is just perfect, fluffy, super soft and just the right amount of sweetness to it. They get very busy but the line moves fast.

I’m was a visitor to New York City and wanted to try this unique donut shop. I was surprised to find out they do not open until 10 AM. $4 plain doughnut and some of the exotic donuts were $8. I had the plain doughnut (without a hole) so that I could taste their flagship product. It was light and airy, but nothing special. I have eaten donuts like this in other countries. Once was enough for me. Friendly staff. Paper menus are unnecessary. See photos for more information and their menu.
