Nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of Nolita, right on the edge of Soho, this shop represents the quintessential New York experience. Leon’s Bagels manages to strike a balance between the nostalgic feel of an old-school New York deli and the modern, high-energy pace of downtown Manhattan. It has quickly become a go-to destination for anyone craving a dense, chewy, and perfectly boiled-then-baked bagel. The shop is often bustling, characterized by the aromatic scent of "everything" seasoning and sizzling bacon that wafts onto the sidewalk, drawing in passersby. Whether you are a lifelong New Yorker with high standards for your "schmear" or a newcomer looking for your first authentic bite of the city, Leon’s offers a welcoming environment that stays true to the city's culinary roots.

What is Worth Choosing
When visiting Leon’s Bagels, the consensus among regular patrons is that the "Everything Bagel" is a must-try. Unlike some shops that go light on the seasoning, Leon’s covers their everything bagels with "every seed and grain under the sun," creating a complex and earthy flavor profile. For a truly elevated experience, many local fans recommend ordering the everything bagel with egg, cheddar cheese, and a splash of chili crisp. The combination of the gooey cheese, the spongey egg, and the spicy crunch of the chili crisp creates a texture and taste harmony that is often cited as one of the best in the city.
If you are a fan of traditional New York deli flavors, the smoked salmon bagel remains a top contender. While the shop is generous with its toppings, those who prefer a milder flavor may want to ask for light onions to ensure the salmon remains the star of the show. For the classic New Yorker who needs a reliable "comfort food" fix, the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese on a plain or sesame bagel is a straightforward, no-nonsense choice that provides a satisfying and hearty start to the day. One of the best aspects of Leon’s is the ability to build your own creation; don't be afraid to mix and match ingredients to find your own perfect Soho sandwich. Whether you are looking for a "flavor sensation" or a simple, well-made classic, this Mulberry Street gem is well worth the detour.

The bagels are good, probably a borderline 5 star experience - I’ve had better ones in New York. Bacon egg cheese bagel was fine - the flavour was fairly straightforward and there was not so much bacon but it was good comfort food. The one with salmon had a bit too much onion to my taste and I’d prefer more salmon. Overall it was better than the bacon egg cheese one. What is nice is that you can build your own bagel with the ingredients you like. I am not sure I would recommend this spot in particular as the go to place to try bagels but it’s good and if you are close by then why not

OMFG this bagel was the best I've had in NYC. That's a big call, but I can't recall when I've enjoyed a bagel this much. I ordered the bagel with everything (basically every seed and grain under the sun), with cheddar, egg and chilli crisp. The flavour sensation was amazing and the textures were a good combination with the crisp, gooey cheese and spongey egg. They're a busy bagel joint on the edge of Soho. Worthy of making the detour to look for this place.

While I was pleasantly surprised by the cheddar cheese in my BEC (think I only had American cheese for most of my BEC), the bagel itself was supar. It was dense and tastes like regular sandwich bread? a NYC bagel should be chewy and a bit more airy than a dense piece of carbs? But it tastes good as a sandwich

Leon’s Bagels in SoHo is always a treat. Every time I stop by, the bagels are consistently delicious — perfectly chewy and fresh. The coffee is also excellent, complementing the bagels nicely. It’s a simple, no-fuss spot that nails the basics every time. I always look forward to coming back whenever I’m in the area.

The bagels are very good and the coffee too, but the incredibly long wait to get your food after ordering is ridiculous. We ordered 2 bacon egg and cheese bagels and it took over 30 min for them to be ready and had to wait outside in the cold while hungry.
