What is worth choosing
When visiting Allan's Bakery, your first choice should undoubtedly be their savory patties. The beef patty is frequently cited by locals as "truly delicious" and has earned perfect scores from those who appreciate a well-seasoned filling and a superior crust. If you are looking for a variety of savory options, the chicken and codfish patties are equally impressive, each offering a distinct spice profile that captures the essence of Caribbean street food. These are the perfect "grab-and-go" items for a busy New York afternoon.
For those with a sweet tooth, the coconut rolls and currant rolls are must-try items. The coconut rolls are soft, sweet, and packed with flavor, while the currant rolls offer a delightful balance of fruit and pastry. If you want to try something even more traditional, the cassava pone is highly recommended. This dense, moist cake is a staple in Caribbean households and at Allan's, it is made with a level of care that results in a rich, satisfying texture. Additionally, the hardo bread is an essential purchase for anyone who loves a sturdy, slightly sweet loaf that is perfect for sandwiches or toasting with butter. To round out your experience, don't forget to try their beverages—their matcha and coffee are surprisingly high-quality and provide the perfect energy boost to accompany your pastry. Whether you are coming in for a full bag of island treats or just a single beef patty, you will find that the quality-to-price ratio at Allan's is among the best in the Lower East Side.

Allan’s Bakery is Caribbean-centric bakery that serves up a small menu of savory eats, sweet items, breads, and coffee and tea drinks. it’s a small modern bakery store located in the Lower East Side. there’s no real seating in the shop as it’s a compact space, but the interior is well organized, clean, and brightly lit. it seems to be a grab and go spot and it’s located only a couple of blocks from an F train stop. stopped here weeks ago and grabbed a drip coffee to go. coffee was solidly fine as it is via machine. this very much a store selling baked items, not a coffee shop. while the sweet items look good, i went for the savory and got a beef patty and a small bag of baked fried. the beef patty had a soft yet flaky crust—the beef filling is well-seasoned but not spicy. definitely a good small bite when you’re on the go or want something satisfying but not filling. the baked fried is basically small round pieces of fried bread that are slightly salted fluffiness and are rich bc they are fried but not oily. fried bake is typically paired with other savory eats like cheese or eggs or Trinidadian salt fish. to me, they were fine on their own almost like a fried dinner roll as a snack. the service is pleasant and quick. don’t think any baking is done on premises but the food is solidly good and different from your typical offerings around the Lower East Side.
